Do companies hire the best, most qualified people or people agreeable to lower wages.

Temporarily huh? What was 2016-2020?

Did Trump make any policy or govern during those 4 years?

Pooor SFP wrong yet again.

Boom, I know this wasn’t you, but there was a time posting something like this would get you run off this board as a commie. Today, it’s being celebrated. MAGA sounds very paranoid and socialist the last few days:

Exactly. He’s giving a bunch of bullshite to satisfy the capitalist wet dream that we all need to dedicate our childhoods to preparing to be high efficiency cogs in their system. What he really wants is the freedom to hire Suresh for pennies on the dollar so that his and his buddy’s companies can increase their profits.

I think that's an exaggeration, but yeah, it's a coalition movement and coalition movements always have some struggles when they actually gain power.

I’ve hired numerous foreign trained accountants and finance professionals and, in general, the work ethic and work culture is much more productive and professional compared to most 30 and under candidates from the U.S. Entitled is a reality…..

I’m raising my child to be confident and kind.
I was an “A” student until high school.
Graduated lsu with a 2.04.
Own 4 businesses and just sold one for multiple 7 figures.
Grades don’t mean shite unless it’s a specialized area.

To the OP, Elon and Vivek are correct. We have brain drain, entitlement, and a lowering population trifecta going on at this moment. It’s like a perfect storm, and educated immigrants should be welcomed.

So let's give up to the communist Democrats who agree with each other because governing is hard.

I made it happen in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Malaysia for about 4500 operators, engineers and technicians. Our employment criteria was half credit to tech background and half credit for working together.

Interesting comment from a Saudi manager in 1985. We prefer hiring Indians that are christian. They have a value system{10 commandments} that we understand and can work with

Always has been

The circle is completing and people are realizing how right I have been

MAGA promotes leftist economic theory and increasing deficit spending

My company hires H1B visa holders from time to time. I know this is probably a battle I can't win with all of you, but there's literally only 65K H1B visa's issued per year. America doesn't have a LEGAL immigration problem, we have an ILLEGAL immigration problem. People on these visas are hard working, respectable people here to make a good living. They pay taxes. They are patriotic. They are who you want coming in.

I don't have a problem with Elon and Vivek working to get people in the country legally. None of these people are coming in here to set people on fire in the subway.

Well partly they send out talent for education opportunities, which again isn't dissimilar to the rest of the developing world. The issue is that because of investment limitations related to wanting transactions done in rupees, they don't have a large reserve of foreign direct investment. Secondly, the growth of jobs for the elite is scant compared to the demand, and again, like many developing countries, if you do not have the right connections for the right sort of job, you can be on the outside looking in. Thirdly, they suffer from uneven internal development, some of which is related to how diverse the country is, and some of which is related to how entrenched the landowning class in the country is. In contrast, Chinese liberalization has been much more even, as you see large, well-developed metropolis springing up precisely because the CCP took great pains to take land from the former land holding class. Nothing similar occurred in India, so the process of development is going to be slower and more politically precarious.

Just by virtue of their demographics, they are going to have an excess capacity with regards to an educated populace, who may or may not always be able to affect change within the country. Eventually that excess capacity with respect to population is going to lead to wealth for Indians, but given that it is a very hierarchical society, you have heavy incentives for people who might be disaffect by virtue of class to seek opportunities elsewhere.
