SIAP, I would have posted it in the big thread about the shootings but it’s descended into a bizarre argument over women and divorce the last few pages.

So…
quote:

An unarmed bystander intervened during the deadly attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday, disarming one of the gunmen, according to footage circulating online.

quote:

Two gunmen attacked the Chanukah By the Sea event on Sunday, shooting multiple members of the local Jewish community. One of the attackers was killed by police, and another was taken into custody in critical condition. The attack left at least 12 people dead and over two dozen injured.

quote:

Footage circulating online shows a middle-aged man, identified by media as Ahmed al-Ahmed, a fruit shop owner and member of the local Muslim community, sneaking up on one of the attackers. The man wrestled the firearm from the gunman, who was forced to retreat to his accomplice.

RT

Video in link, very clear and dramatic.

Very brave, but why didn’t he shoot his fellow Muslim once he had the rifle? He allowed the shooter to retreat, get another gun, and continue shooting.

Apparently his name is "Ahmed al-Ahmed":

Well that settles it then, we should ignore all of the wrongs perpetrated by this violent religion.

Might not have known how to use it.

Or maybe he came under fire from the other shooter and had to take cover.

I thought the same thing. Might not have known how to cycle the weapon or could’ve been out of ammo. Either way the shooter is seen at the end with another weapon so this didn’t accomplish a whole lot. What is more worrisome is these hajis unleashed hell for 10 minutes while the police did nothing.

Yea would have been nice but he probably had a thousand thoughts in his head those seconds afterwards. Australia might have prosecuted him for shooting the terrorist. He also probably thought about not wanting to be seen as a shooter and shot by police, as he puts gun down against tree and raises his hands shortly after disarmament.

Ahmed is a Lebanese Christian, don’t misidentify his religion or assume because of his name. He has a well known store in Sydney which has his Maronite cross on display.

That man is more marked for death by Muslims than he is hailed a hero.

Should’ve killed him. No telling what that terrorist had in his bag. Not to mention he just unalived multiple people.

Good job on that dude

In the video it does appear the second shooter on the bridge takes aim and shoots in that direction. Ahmed dives behind a tree too.

I’m not assuming anything. I’m quoting what multiple media outlets are now reporting.

Perhaps they are wrong. If you have media reports to the contrary, please post them.

I’ll consider it but I’ll need more than Hail just telling me who he is.
