Is that some kind of move to keep from possibly having to possibly pay them some kind of back pay or something? A way to keep them from being able to sue?

Why would they do that?

They truly F’d up our military with global wokeism. If we really are still the strongest fighting force in the world, it’s a tribute to the rank and file members, and not the clowns at the top.

And this decision by the Trump Admin wants to sweep it all under the rug:

quote:

The Department of Defense has released updated guidance officially inviting back thousands of service members who were involuntarily separated for refusing to comply with the now-defunct COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The move comes under Executive Order 14184, signed by President Donald Trump on January 27, 2025, and implemented by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The order compels the Pentagon to offer reinstatement to any military personnel—active or reserve—who were forced out solely for refusing the COVID shot.

Yeah it’s not a good look; it will be interesting to see Hegseth’s response, and if this will be remedied by him.

I had to check to see where it originated. It came from him and Trump. It is a bad look, and it should be fixed.

The best thing that can happen is for Hegseth to very publicly apologize on behalf of the previous decision makers and make it right. Give them their back pay. They were already under contract and then it was the government that altered the contract and said "get jabbed or get lost".

You're not going to get Milley or any of the other tranny-froendly wokester current and former brass to admit any wrongdoing. EVER. But without SOMEONE admitting that a great wrong was carried out, that rift can never heal. Hegseth is the exact right kind of person to shoulder that responsibility and appeal more to the rank-and-file grunts.

They'll be pissed that the actual responsible parties have cowered away from responsibility, but they'll be incredibly honored to play ball for a man that is willing to shoulder a burden that isn't his to bear.

Who cares, especially if they get all the benefits and pay back.
Sign whatever in that case

I could see a statement where they recognize they left by their own choice, but I disagree with the "freely and without coercion" section. That's objectively untrue.

If they chose to leave though, then it was made freely and on their own. This is a standard provision in contract law. I think this is much ado about nothing.

That is a good plan and all, but this decision comes from Hegseth. He could have done what you suggest from the beginning.

Yea I think you’ll be hard pressed to see the govt concede coercion here

Do you have information that this form reached Hegseth’s or Trump’s eyes before going into circulation? Seems to me like something that would have been handled by underlings - including some underlings he inherited with the job.

We will see, maybe. This first came to light five days ago. The only response has been a generic "We're reviewing it......"
