Why, because the people in that room controlled the election? Or because no one outside of that room has any knowledge of this event.

MCCain was toast as would be any republican after 8 years of Bush. Any D would have one, any R would have lost.

I honestly think it's worse than that because this implies that he might have been prepared

But I think the ugly truth is he knew that in the day-to-day grind he would look worse.

moreover now that we know he basically works hand-in-glove with the media I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that he directly worked against her to make her look bad.

But the bottom line is it doesn't really matter because my primary point is this. You're the lead dog. If it doesn't come out right its your fricking fault. That this person with decades of experience in politics openly let all of the blame for his failure fall on the newcomer he brought in says as much about his character is anything else.

The motherfuker has never been loyal to anyone in his life and frankly as someone else put it. All he's done is live off the one event in his life for the rest of his life because at his core he's not a good person

I highly recommend the HBO documentary Panic. It’s about the financial crisis and details this meeting extensively. It’s was a very odd meeting in which a lot of cursing and name calling on was being flung. It got so bad Bush had to intervene at one point as basically say the meeting was over. Crazy times

That is supposed to confirm that obama was "impressive".

Boehner?

How come the GOPe selected such shitty speakers anyway? Texas did the same shite with Strauss.

At least none of them have fricked little kids lately as far as I know.

That's because for decades his only actual "qualification" was "I'm a war hero"

Obama's Plan was to print a trillion dollars and give it back to his supporters who would funnel it back to him down the road for re-election. Pretty evil, never grew the economy, and pretty much all those green projects failed with no accounting of the money. “I guess Shovel ready wasn’t Shovel ready” and whole room laughs....remember!!! There’s a reason there was no real growth in his 2 terms...

It’s because the last thing any politician wants to do is actually have to confront and solve a problem.

Yes he did. He was USN Royalty because both his Dad and Grandad were very highly-regarded Admirals.

McCain was a lazy arse prick and a traitor. He gave aid and comfort to the enemy. After he was captured, the number of pilots shot down increased. Many believe he gave operational information. Some POW wanted him to be tried when he returned.

You know if you think about it it occurs to me that when people who liked Bill Clinton Ronald Reagan Barack Obama or GW bush want to show them in a positive light, they will typically pull up videos of those individuals speaking and sounding great at least to the person who shared the video

But that's never been the case with McCain. I can't think of any significant videos of him despite his decades in office that are worth remembering

When people who like McCain want to show a video supporting McCain it's always a video of other people talking about McCain

I remember that scene. Obama sounded smart but his comments were vacuous. Full of unoriginal fluff. And as you noted McCain didn’t talk much but when he did he came across as a buffoon especially on the subject of economics. Sad times.

Astute observation. Now that I think abt it one of those clips may well be the "heroic" thumbs down vote that "saved Obamacare". So selfless and heroic...the maverick sticking up for the little guy.

Nope. Ot was selfish, cowardly and attention-seeking-->that particular one being the antithesis of heroic behavior. He told reporters before the vote to be sure to "stick around for the show." I can't make myself worked up enough over politics like so many do, but that moment is top 5 for me. Still worked up over it.

McCain was quoted in this book as saying his only understanding of the economy is he was Greenspan’s book

I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm saying mcCain was already toast after 8 years of Bush, and the incident in the room had absolutely no impression on the voting public.

If Boehner didn't know mcCain was a lazy fraud before the meeting, says more about Boehner.
