Reading the new book American Carnage, and an interesting story about McCain really spells out why he lost...

During the financial crisis McCain called for both campaigns to stop campaigning and meet w Bush about a path forward... Well Obama met with Pelosi and dem leadership and had a plan...

McCain hadn’t done any prep work, and Boehner sent an aide to ride w McCain to the White House and prep him, but McCain was on the phone w his wife the whole time.

Well they get in the meeting and Bush turned the floor to the candidates and Obama laid out the Dems position and was impressive... then Bush turner the floor over to McCain and McCain didn’t have shite to say so he said oh I’ll wait my turn and signaled to Boehner to speak up... and basically Boehner said at that moment everyone in the room knew McCain was toast.

McCain lived on his family name his entire life

Makes sense.

His Vietnam days built him a big pile of credit and for the rest his life he just lived off that, and mailed it in.

And that would’ve been just fine if he would’ve been a good Republican, voted with the party, kept mostly quiet except maybe bitch about a base closing or the VA... he could’ve lived out his days and died a hero to all.

But Nooooo... he HAD to be President (and much like Hillary, he thought it should’ve been just given to him because of his past), and when he fricked that up he blamed the American public and the Republican Party. He spent the rest of his days bitterly causing strife and doing everything he could to teach us a lesson. Petty fricker. Then he lost the plot when Trump, an outsider with zero political experience, steps up and gets the job done.

And prior to that moment, despite his dumb arse strategy to throw Palin to the MSM wolves, she had him surging and actually in the lead in the polls.

He was utterly and completely responsible for giving us jug ears

I think anyone who voted for McCain in the 2008 Republican primaries needs to be dragged under that umbrella as well. I was a Mitt Romney guy all the way and he was the only one I saw who had a prayer's chance of beating the Democratic candidate for president that year. After the '06 midterms, it was clear that America had a sour taste for Republicans and it was going to take a strong, charismatic candidate to have any chance of beating whoever the Democrats put up.

The party's dumb arse decided that charismatic candidate was John McCain, who even in 2008 looked like he was on death's door. As soon as Romney suspended his campaign I knew that Obama was going to win in November. Sarah Palin was a good tactical decision but McCain blew his chance with her after he left her twisting in the wind for the press to destroy.

Screw anyone who voted for that man in 2008.

I learned a lot about John McCain after he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

I never thought McCain was honorable or likable. He always seemed like a guy that people were loath to go too far (except Trump) in criticizing given he was a P.O.W. He was arrogant, had a spotty veterans voting record and he voted in support of Obama backed bills more than just about any other Republican.

McCain's life is chock full of underpreparation leading to reckless action. It was true in his youth, true as a combat aviator, true in Congress, and true in his presidential campaigns. I've also never been convinced he was psychologically stable.

But given W's second term performance, combined with the GOP's abysmal efforts to combat media and leftist propaganda, any Dem nominee was going to win the general election in 2008.

McCain blew the financial volcano and called to cancel the up coming debate to focus on the country going into recession. Obama said frick you let’s debate. McXain’s Plan was stupid and Obama blew him out

As did many on the right side, but in doing so held their nose and had a sense that he just wasn't a winner.

That 2008 campaign was poorly managed and executed on the part of McCain. It was going to be hard to beat the media back socialist (a lot of fools wanted to be part of voting for the “first”), but as nasty a person as McCain was at his core, he wouldn’t even take off the gloves and get in the mud to fight for the presidency.

That's sad that he couldn't even improv a challenge to a plan to "print a trillion dollars and spend it on solar panels, windmills, shovel-ready jobs and unicorn farts."

Book talks about this too... most in the party were shocked he picked her because she was basically known for her looks but not being the brightest... but Bill Kristol liked her and recommended her... well initially she was a big boost, but once shite started going downhill, McCain’s people basically put her out front in the media because they knew they were going to lose and wanted the blame on her being a mess and unprepared.

Trump!s “people who weren’t captured” was the sickest, yet most brilliant political burn in history.

The thought of the burn disgusts you until it sinks in that McCain is more disgusting a person than the burn.

And then in your mind you separated McCain from real war vets and think to yourself I’ll allow it.

So you're condemning those who voted for McCain by bragging about being a Romney supporter? Ok, champ.

BTW, I voted for both and did so as the lesser of two evils. Honestly, I would do it again and I Loathe McCain.
