As long as the women consent and they aren't underage, then idc if muslims have multiple wives.

The problem with muslims has never been polygamy. It has been they marry underage girls. And a lot of times in Muslim countries, it is the underage girl's family selling or trading the underage girl to someone to marry.

If a Muslim guy went out and courted multiple 18+ yr old women, and justly convinced them to marry him.. then I've no problem with it.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate for a moment. What is the moral justification you hang your hat on for 18 as an age of consent, given that Mississippi has a general marriage age of 21 and 12 states set no minimum age with parental consent?

When gay marriage was legalized this became inevitable. Next up will be incestious marriage. Before it’s over the only restriction on marriage will be age of consent. And the age of consent will probably be much lower than it is today.

I already talked with my wife about this. Once legalized, we will be moving to Utah so that I can find the perfect second wife. She will be roughly 80, chubby, a great cook, good at housework, and wealthy. We will call her Gammy and she will tell me I am a handsome boy and give me some money to go up to the store and buy myself a treat. .

Monogamous societies are also infinitely more stable. We know this to be true if you look at all of western civilization.

Fine with me. It's their religion and their values if Utah as a state wants to make it legal it's within their state's rights.

I just can't imagine the health insurance premiums though.

I'm talking about traditional polygamy.

But yeah, I get you point. In the current age of gayness and gender bending, anything can happen.

It seems like there aren't many cattlemen on tPB. Nobody wants twenty bulls and one cow - or even just one bull and one cow. They want one bull and many cows to grow their operation.

Being honest here. I've never supported laws that prevent consenting adults from behaving how they wish in relationships.

NOTE: This does not mean I "support" polygamy. It simply means I do not support banning it.

agreed, the only issues i have are when 11 &13 yr old girls are given to 60 year old men like a basket of corn from the field. im most cases these girls dont even have started to matures as adults and they are already being forced into marrying and having kids for geriatrics 5 times there age

if all parties are adults they can do as they please but not when children are being forced into marriage as some "requirement" to god and not shame their family by refusing

Polygamy seems like the old "monkey's paw" horror story. Some dumb guy makes a wish, thinking he's going to bang a different hot woman each night of the week... only the reality turns out that he's nagged by 7 different women every single day.

Assuming everyone is fertile and healthy, yes.

30 should be about right.

Some of you people in this thread... are clueless and I've let this go on long enough.

You want to know about this topic, AMA because I live it.

So polygamy makes sense to any community that REALLY wants to grow their population.

if someone is dumb enough to marry someone with multiple wives/husbands, that is on them.

Ever watch any of those reality shows? The women almost always hate the arrangement. The men go from bed to bed every night and the wives want the husband all to themselves. It’s what you’d expect.

Scalia warned us this would happen, but I got a bad grade on my law school paper about Obergerfell v. Hodges when I mentioned that portion of his dissent and tried to relate it back to Justice Harland’s dissent in the 19th Century Civil Rights cases. I guess my analysis wasn’t woke enough.

Remind us of again Scalia's warning?

Scalia warned that the same language and justification used by the majority to legalize gay marriage in Obergefell could also be used to overturn bans on incest, poligamy, bigamy, and beastiality. He said the landmark decision would inevitably lead to a slippery slope overturning many “morality based” laws regulating conduct and relationships.
