Make it hard enough to legally own a firearm means law abiding citizens may go without them, resulting in more defenseless homeowners. This is just one example of the government trying to kill a fly with a grenade.

You assume the liberals want to solve crime problems. They want a disarmed populace.

Yep. Build a registration and only law abiding citizens will use it.

Just so you know, only law-abiding citizens follow laws.

I don't think this argument means what you think it means.

There is no gun registration, what the hell are you talking about?

Ok, if we're doing back ground checks but we're not taking note of what that person is buying? how is that possible? How do we know one way or other?

what is the biggest objection to it? 8 states have banned a gun registry

we're going to have to do something....

the culture of America is broken...

I understand people kill people, but the loons need to be filtered and identified.

we can't watch the news like it's fiction, like a movie because we don't know any of the victims...

we're growing numb to it...that's not a good place to be

I’m saying a registration is worthless. I’m not sure what else you think I’m saying.

a legitimate firearm business?

I dont think that's necessary. I think all you need to do is have the purchase go through an FFL licensed dealer. This is already the case at all gun stores and gun shows. The exception is when two guys meet and sell to one another.

The latest shooter in Texas actually failed his background check and then bought one from a dude off the street.

The goal of the law is not to stop the thing you're making illegal 100% of the time.

On that same note though, the goal of making laws in the first place should not be to 100% control a situation.

There will always be loopholes, and you can stack law after law on top of each other to try and close these loopholes, but in the end you'll be left with a myriad of laws that severely limit people's rights and safety in order to prevent a few murders.

It's horrible to say, but it's the truth. There comes a point where additional laws hurt the innocent more than help them.

Would anyone be ok with a law mandating that a pre-owned vehicle may only be sold to the government or a gov. approved agency?

I gotcha...

but vehicles are register, inspected annually and insured...

But it's clearly not useless. Yes only law-abiding citizens will use it, but that's true for every other law in place. That doesn't stop us for putting rules in place. Do you see how insane that is?

What good is that going to do?

How is that fair to a law abiding citizen?

Why should I be hassled for passing a gun along to my child? I have a John Wayne rifle that has almost never been out of the box. You want me to have to sell it to a gun store so they sell it to my son?

Hell naw.

A government gun registry, thats a good idea. No abuse could EVER come from that.

If you are clueless as to how the system works now how can you be taken seriously in a debate or proposing changes?

It sounds like you are in an emotional state, maybe chill out.

Agreed, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as "more=bad" at any given point. We can implement more strict laws while not increasing bloat.

Only relevant if we're discussing the ratification of a constitutional amendment that would categorically ensure to citizens the right to vehicle ownership, and the pursuit thereof.

And still kill more people than guns every year.

We don’t need vehicles that exceed 25 mph. Limiting travel to that speed will damn near end vehicular deaths.
