I'm good with Canada not having the best fighting aircraft.
They don't get the best stuff however. Just the frame.

That would be a different argument that we arent getting our money's worth.
Not really. We're talking about military contractors and politicians here.
You and I both know they could sell a hundred to Canada and it would make no positive influence in anyones life here, except politicians who get payoffs and folks who work for Lockheed Martin.

We can’t let China or Russia take over Canada.
Then the US should take over Canada. Put all those sneaky coniving bastards in the CIA to work fricking over Canada like they do other countries. Get those Canucks on a paying basis.

A publicly traded company generating billions in revenue, with made in America manufacturing to deliver, has no positive influence in anyone’s life?
Didn’t expect that from mr S&P 500

Not yours or mine.
I'm tired of propping up BigCorp

Assuming we never get into a shooting war with China or Russia 100%.
The MIC is Wallstreet attached to the congressional budget.
But if we get into a shooting war, the Israelis have shown that we have the only planes that can go in and out safely.
Not sure how much you want Iran to have a nuke, but those B-2s did something I think is important.
100 Canadian F-35s would be a big help to the US if their government was an honest ally.

Good luck with that.
Toronto, Montreal, Ottowa and Vancouver are lost. They've literally been overrun with foreigners
Do not trust Canada going forward. They're on a short road to socialism.

So you agree it impacts your tax dollars?
What impacts our tax dollars are the sweetheart terms that Lockheed Martin and the DoD agreed to. Countless reports, some from the DoD itself, reports that systems upgrades are years behind schedule, and the costs are grossly bloated. Also, the USMC and USN have reduced planned acquisitions of the F-35B/C.The F-15EX, F-16 Block70, and the Advanced F/A-18 E/F never would have seen the light of day if it weren't for the over-engineered Avionics snafus of the F-35, and the massive cost overuns, so massive that the Pentagon and other Nations, are falling back to Gen 4.5 aircraft that are highly succesful proven warfighters.

And you want Canada to be able to back out of a deal they agreed to, just to spite the US?
What does the procurement agreement say? Can Canada back out?
Why didn't the U.S. force a deposit to ensure Canada would not back out?

I can see Canada driving a Saab. If Subaru made planes, that would be the perfect choice for canada.

Subaru made planes,
Imagine how many rainbow flag and coexist stickers you could fit on a plane.
The one Canadian baw pilot could also put tons of Sasquatch and national park stickers on his.
I think they should do it for the laughs.

Nah, they don't come into the union. We just pull strings and nation build using CIA spooks. Just frick them up with our installed puppet.

We want to force people to buy our aircraft?
No, not really but at the same time, I am fine with them providing for their own defense as well... If they want to go that route, buy whatever the frick they want...

As far as Nato and the Nato countries this goes a lot further than just countries not buying the F35. Taking the Gripen over the F35 which is monumentally stupid. It changes how we would operate in theatre with our allies. Not just picking up the slack for inferior weapons but the overall operation would completely change.

Name one European plane in the last 40 years that is a highly successful warfighter.
Just one.
