In the past, they would move cocaine in fuel tanker trucks and unload the cocaine using underground tanks for storage. Then the process of removing the cocaine would begin.
I do believe the seized oil tanker is simply a real clear message.

But primarily those proceeds (cocaine and embargoed oil) going straight into Maduro's and friends pockets allowing them to stay in power.
So it is mainly about regime change by giving the Venezuelan opposition, who's legitimacy we've long recognized, a chance to coup Maduro.
I don't think it is about 'oil for us' because we have already, both Trump and Biden, allowed Chevron to pump and refine there. If it was 'about oil' and seizing it we wouldn't be allowing Chevron to legally sell Venezuelan oil.
As far as oil goes, knowing that Venezuela needs Russian light crudes to make gasoline India can't do jack crap with it. I think the side benefit is to pressure India into making a better deal with us while simultaneously reducing Russian revenues. Keep in mind, it is near impossible to ship any crude or refined product directly from Russia to India. They need to transload, and often refine, via a 3rd party- that's either China or Venezuela. China is not cutting India any deals. Maduro will because it is straight to his pocket.
