Assuming the old wall was properly surveiled by camera and patrolled by Border Patrol, which any wall has to be, that's actually a much smaller difference than putting a brand new wall on completely empty land. I know it sure looks impressive.
You may be right. They actually should have built it around New York.

Rusted ole strands of barbed wire is a wall?

A three foot fence that even my grandmother could crawl over is a wall?

Old rusty 10 foot sheet metal is a 'wall'?

As Keyshawn Johnson used to say, C'mon man.

Replacing old parts of the wall is something that would have happened anyway with or without Trump.

You know that is tee-total bull. If that ole corrupt hag would have been elected as president, America's border wall system would not even seen the light of day.

Carry on recruit.

After the Corona-19 cluster-freak, I want to see the Democrats argue against working towards having the ability to close our Southern border at a moments' notice.

Disinformation can go both ways, you know. I bet you're thinking almost all of that nearly 100 miles of replaced wall originally looked like those cherry picked photos of the worst possible cases, but I really doubt it. Show me some data to back it up and I'll be more impressed. Otherwise it's a disappointing effort so far.

Any by the way...those fancy new tall expensive walls are great at stopping people from flying into the country and overstaying their visas. When they are the wall from the plane, they get second thoughts and immediately book a trip back home. Thank you Trump!

Excuse me is that America, or is that a third world country? No thanks...

Not really. If Texas and Florida blocking their border to fleeing Louisiana residents didn't clue you in, then I'm not sure what else will.

You know Trump completely destroyed the Democrats effort to stop new wall construction when posters like Microbrain still have to rely on Aug 19 talking points that have already proven false.

654 miles of border wall already existed before Trump took office, and as of August last year, Trump had replaced about 60 miles of it but not added any new length to the wall. Homeland security had gotten funding for 334 miles of wall total, 224 miles of which was just replacing old wall. Replacing old parts of the wall is something that would have happened anyway with or without Trump.

I don't know the context for these new numbers, but I bet most or all of them are still just replacing old wall.

This argument has been debunked so many times. The existing “wall” in most cares was just chain link fence or vehicle barriers. These are in high traffic areas too, and are being replaced by a wall that actually works

But if you can show him a video of all 600+ miles of new wall as proof, he’ll reconsider.

Ya'll, not even all of Trump's new wall looks like that big impressive wall! That's what's known as a "bollard wall", but plenty of Trump's "new" wall has been "levee wall", which is a much more normal and shorter wall. Look at that poorly formatted DHS link posted above, they literally show pictures and stats of exactly that.

You're ignorant if you think the entire length of new wall was giant bollard wall replacing cherry picked examples of bunch of logs that children arranged together.

The problem is that conservatives will trust that 100% of Trump's new wall is either brand new or is replacing those third-world walls with shining Trump steel, and liberals will trust that the whole thing is a farce and Trump has built no new wall and only replaced bollards with equally strong bollards.

The truth is in the middle. Trump has replaced a lot of walls in a normal and expected way, replaced a few photogenic embarrassing spots with big impressive bollards, built a tiny amount of new walls. What is planned is quite impressive and a definite improvement, but it is taking much longer than expected and certainly longer than promised during his campaign. To some that would be a disappointment.

The ~150 mile completed in the OP is almost certainly still mostly replacement wall.

So you consider a broken down three strand barbed wire fence a "wall"? Even the "vehicle barrier" is ineffective.
