Up until 1820 the crime for treason

Men found guilty of treason were sentenced to be drawn to the place of execution on a hurdle, "hanged, cut down while still alive, and then disembowelled, castrated, beheaded and quartered".
No wonder there were very few treasonous acts.
On the local courthouse lawn, we could put misdemeanors in a shackle that exposes their face to the crowd. The crowd could pay to throw rotten fruit, vegetables, eggs, and meat at the face from 8 am to 5 pm.

The thing I have always found most ironic is that now that we have wrist slapping or looking the other way for treason, treason today can result in whole American cities being vaporized.
(See Al Gore and Bill Clinton's selling of MERV and rocket technology to the Chicoms.)
The communist traitors made sure that treason was handled differently, after the Rosenbergs.

I’d pay money to watch that happen to some of the treasonous assholes running this country

That's exactly what should happen to politicians that enacted unconstitutional covid mandates and the cops that enforced them.

History disagrees with you.

I’d volunteer to be an executioner

I would gladly watch a corrupt politician meet his end in that fashion.
But my preferred ways to kill a traitor would be to lock them in a cell with fresh water and no food. And leave them there until they died. Starvation is supposedly one of the worst ways to die. In a healthy individual it could take a month or longer.
I also like the indian way of tying a wet piece of leather around their neck and leaving them out in the sun and let the leather dry and shrink slowing choking them.
Also the way they used to kill pirates was pretty good. They were tied to pilings of a dock at low tide with just their head sticking out of the water. Then as the tide came in they slowly drowned.

Speak for yourself. Or are you one of those people who feel that what Schiff/Sleepy/HRC and the rest of their criminal gang has done to Lady Liberty was justified and she was asking for it based on what she was wearing?

There is a zero percent chance you would actually enjoy watching that

I would walk to DC if it took it to watch the traitors within our own government meet their end by gallows or whatever other means determined as acceptable punishment for a treason conviction.
And take it all in with relish. While dining on nothing but popcorn and the tears of liberal wailers.

Put in on Pay-Per-View and we'll pay off the national debt in no time.

You do realize that the OP-linked-article relates to England, not the US, right?

This was never the case in the US. And if you're talking of England it's worth noting that they operated on an amorphous definition of treason. It was basically whatever the king said it was on a given day.
The U.S. Constitution does mention punishment up to death by hanging but I've read in various places that Congress has limited that to 20 years in prison. (Obviously that would be post-Rosenberg.) But would that statute hold up under challenge since it directly limits something that is allowed under the constitution? Does "up to hanging", rather than "shall be hanged" let that squeak by?

Probably why it’s the only crime specifically defined in the Constitution along with the evidence needed to prove same.
