In the union facilities that i work in ( which are a lot as a contractor) we get to know the fellas in these places pretty well. There's a pervasive sense of discontent with how the media depicts Unions and Union workers. Despite many of them being conservative supporters, the portrayal in the media seems consistently skewed and unfair. It's disheartening to see their views and values misrepresented, and the way the media spins this narrative is truly absurd. Wondering if anyone else here picks up on this and what thoughts may be regarding it.

They give money to unions to represent them. If the views of the Union don't represent them, then they should stop giving money to the unions.

I have a few friends in Ohio that would tell you otherwise. This board's view on Unions is just crazy.

It's just like actual politics. The everyday people on the street doing the actual work are red-blooded Americans who support sensible policies. The scumbags who rise up to leadership get insulated from the shite of day to day life and get swayed by lobby money, so loudly announce they vote Democrat despite their members not actually agreeing.

My Dad was a harcore conservative Rep and life long Union member.
Always seemed odd to me that conservatives were viewed in political terms as always Dems. Which is not always the case.

I guess the white collar Reps are against unions more than the rest.
Got to keep that labor cost down to ensure another vacation home.

Unions suck and are just a scam for others to get rich.

The media regularly endorses unions as democratic candidate supporters.

I think this is bullshirt, but if you are conservative why are supporting a liberal organization?

unions are like loan sharks, you owe them money and they will take it from you, paying union dues is not a choice you get to make

Try union members in Mississippi…. Conservative state on most issues. Where the disagreement exists is labor. How skilled labor is treated, paid, healthcare etc…. Saw this thread as we sit on break talking about all the open calls.

Absolutely.

Unions support Democrats with their money and vote.

Or elect different union leadership.

My dad was in the URW union at Goodyear from 1955 to 1997 when he retired.

Unions were absolutely necessary when employees were exploited, injured, and tossed away when they got too old. Today, we have more-than-enough laws on the books protected employees from bad employers.

Today, there is no need for unions other than to hold employers hostage for more-and-more.

Unions use to contain a lot of Democrats, but the Democrats abandoned the working class, and like you said, many workers were of conservative backgrounds morally.

Ever since Obama, it's pretty much Union Leadership that still march's in lockstep with the DNC while the workers have awakened to the BS.

Depends on the union. Hospitality union (UNITE Here) is liberal and progressive as frick and so are most of the workers I encounter.

This. I was a union electrician (Local 995) for about 8 years. Unions are nothing more than fundraising PACs for Democrats. You're strong armed into giving to the PAC fund, you're strong armed into working phone banks during election season. The place is crawling with fricking hypocrites--hard working men and women who have conservative value yet support liberal candidates. I waited way too long to tear up my ticket. I can't even imagine what it's like today.

They aalow this to make it appear as if the Union stamp is a big deal.

Daily I hear numerous people call various radio shows and say how the Management might have endorsed Biden but a lot of the rank and file are for Trump.

You need look no further for the deleterious effects of labor union/Democratic Party politics than what the FTC is doing right now in opposition to the proposed merger of Albertsons and Kroger supermarkets.
