Unions are blue collar guys. Their ideal and politics will vary from state to state, but I would think many have conservative ideals.
Yet somehow they have allowed Union leadership funnel their dues to Democrats.
My dad is super conservative but was a union rep at his plant. It was typically negotiations with the company over contracts and then protecting guys from getting fired over infractions. Some of it I disagreed with and saw the company's right, but I saw the otherside of it at times also. THe company is always looking to cut cost and willing to screw you.
I think OP is right that you only see Union leadership being Democrat on the TV, when the members are much more conservative, patriotic, strong borders, type of people.

Not all. The UAW, Teamsters and Teachers are yes but Millwrights, pipefitters, electrical, carpenters are not. At least not to me they're not. All the guys I know are big conservative Trump supporters that just want to be left alone.

This. Living in SW Louisiana I know plenty of operators, etc. from the Industries. Damn near 100% are MAGA and that includes non-whites.
