Many years ago I taught college Economics 101, first Econ class. In the text book, and keep in mind text books are written by liberal professors, the preface said that a politicians first job was to get re-elected. Not to represent their constituents or to be honest or to work hard, get re-elected. That was 40 years ago and it's sad but true.

False. What you do is become a bitch when a democrat isn’t President.

Absolutely true. Be popular, which goes against doing the right thing. The syste is broken in that regard, we give them a 20% approval rating, then elect them again at a 95% clip

The public is collectively stupid and will reinforce biases instead of critically thinking.

They arent even looking at the expenditures.

Not to defend them but I’ve a few times wondered about how that would even happen at today’s scope of massive government.

Like how does a congressman really have beyond just a vague idea of what they are approving - it’s got to be “just trust this is the usual plus a few party talking points”

well obviously they're not actually the ones typing up 10,000 page spending bills, so our politicians are just letting other people spend the money however they want and we wonder why the money is being spent wrong.

Fennos paradox

60% of Americans say they would vote ALL of congress out, 80% give Congress a disapproval rating, yet they are re-elected at a 95% rate.

For every EO Trump signs based on a DOGE find/recommendation, Johnson should be bringing a singular bill to the floor under expedited parliamentary procedures.

They broke this shite. At least they could do is rubber stamp it so Trump doesn't have to fight it in court for 2 years when they frick it up again and lose the House.

Term limits and members of Congress or immediate family members cannot own stocks while in office. If the president can be limited to two terms, so can the house and senate.

I think Trump and his massive microphone is key here.

Once the proposed budget (and inevitable CR) comes up, he can blast those who are contributing to waste and fraud….by name.

Not many people want to be directly attacked by POTUS

Indeed. Anyone who aspires to national office should be suspicious. Its a known cesspool.

US debt will continue to rise, the only meaningful and lasting way to address federal spending is the passage of a constitutional amendment that demands congress bring forth a balanced budget each year.

When this occurs^^^^ you will know your elected federal politicians are serious about saving the constitutional republic rather than seeking power with the goal to enrich themselves.

True - but most have pretty much been hammered into that condition.

It takes a lot of mental acuity and energy to resist the onslaught of media-assisted propaganda and flood of 'help the underprivileged' legislation, which is nothing more than bribes to the underprivileged to become comfortable in their underprivilege.

We need term limits and public inspection of elected officials' resources to know where their money comes from - and some regulation of campaign tactics, as in:
- truth in campaigning - allow "promises of what I will do" - but demand they pay for equal time for any allegation against an opponent - provided in conjunction with the allegation being made.
- local funding of campaigns - disallow any money from outside the jurisdiction of the office - put a limit on $$ spent on advertising.
- face to face debates - require participation in set number face to face debates - funded by the govt. - with the participants themselves asking the questions of the other party.
- any statement of 'fact' made in campaign be backed up by sworn affidavit - get rid of the nonsense 'end of democracy' campaign shite.

Let's take it one step father....
Whose responsible for electing members of Congress?
We the people are ultimately responsible for OUR elected officials. We voted them into office.

During a debate on funding a spending bill any congressman who uses the phrase 'If it saves the life of one child...' should be impeached.
