Or...hear me out...maybe there wasn't enough evidence to detain them. They haven't been charged with committing a crime.
OTOH, the farmer who reported the suspicious activity says that there were MORE than the 5 men arrested. She also said the police did not follow up with her about her report.
Also, for the police to evacuate the area indicates they thought SOMETHING dangerous was happening. So, who knows.

Based on media reports, it is hard to actually know what's going on and why.
I don't trust the media or the government.

Yesterday, the news was reporting that in the UK they could be held for 2 months without charges.

That's true. Makes you wonder why they didn't do that.
I'm not defending the virtue of the UK police. I have seen many horrible abuses and errors by them.

Thank goodness our President assured us that we had these guys under investigation. I'm looking forward to President Trump fulfilling his promise to tell us all about it "very soon."
At this point, I don't think the President considers deeper "intelligence" than what he hears on Fox News.
Does anybody know what "explosives" the suspects were even carrying? Was the middle aged woman who called the local police an American intelligence asset?
