If Abbot uses his declaration as legal basis for stopping them from buying land and he doesn't have the statutory authority to make that declaration, then it just creates a lawsuit he likely loses.
Why the hell not ask Trump's state department to do it for him and avoid that legal ambiguity? Trump is obviously friendly to this cause so why give some ACLU lawyer or liberal judge ammo you don't need to?
Maybe he has the authority but i really doubt a state governor make a legal declaration of any group as a foreign terrorist organization.

You do recall that the video of a few hundred children pledging fealty to General Soleimani (who killed and maimed thousands of service men and women) was filmed in Houston, right? It's an Islamic education center visible from Westpark, about 5 miles from me.

Of all those religions listed, how many have committed terroristic attacks in Texas or America? This is great. These enemies of America/Texas need to be stopped, and drive out of this nation.
With that said, I hope they have ways to go after surrogates. Like the Chinese couple who are Canadian residents, with connections to the CCP, who somehow were allowed to buy a trailer park that borders Whiteman AF base in MO.
We really are a stupid society along our enemies to use our rights against us.
