THe Pence suggestions are coming from the fact that Pence has used the word “lodestar” in multiple speeches and that word was also used in this op-ed

The word is kinda like “sea change” was a few years ago. Kissinger used it at McCain’s funeral. A HuffPost writer used it. A WSJ writer used it. It’s meaningless as an identifier.

It’s been kinda popular during the Trump administration, apparently. I’d never heard it either. But Googling it, it popped up multiple times.

Mike Pence.

The OpEd uses "hellbent" and "half-baked", both terms used by Pence.

Looks like Trump created his own deep state. Quote from the OpEd:
quote:

This isn’t the work of the so-called deep state. It’s the work of the steady state.

The fact that Trump is demanding the Times disclose the writer is a pretty good indication he believes someone in his administration really said wrote it.

Trump was a necessity for Pence, and likewise Pence was a necessity to Trump. I wouldn’t say there is loyalty just means to an end.

True, BUT this is the NY Times we are speaking of. I am hesitant to give them too much credit.
