This genre is going the way of the old variety shows and will soon be obsolete.

Letterman and especially Conan were absolute comedic geniuses but the elderly demographic just didn't "get" them. So we got Leno and most of us quit watching. Now that targeted demographic is dead or dying and there's no audience left for them to target.

But Carr was out of line.

And Carr had no power to force ABC to do anything. The FCC’s power over content on non-news shows is next to zero.

It’s definitely a bad look. The media will ignore the reality around Kimmels departure which had nothing to do with the FCC, and focus on this. And in that, they will ignore the Kirk assassination completely and obsess about muh free speech.

It’s an unforced error.

Nexstar's Tegna "merger" is currently under FCC review. (With future moves widely rumored, including a play for CNN). Carr pressured Nexstar, who in turn put the squeeze on ABC.

He had no business being involved.

This is why we cant "win" these issues. Some tard always goes overboard and plays to the left.

He should not have stepped in and let citizens handle it.

stopped listening to tucker when he claimed to be attacked by demons while
sleeping next to his wife, stopped listening to glenn beck when he claimed to have three chronic diseases simultaneously. these people are carnival geeks, they would bite the head off a live chicken for internet clicks.

He did know what he was doing, but he could care less about inflaming a dangerous situation. It’s all about ratings, and he knows his are in the gutter. It was a calculated approach because he knew that lie would garner attention, negative or not. Where he miscalculated was actually getting thrown off the air. The other possibility is that he already knew his contract wasn’t being renewed and was going to go out being an a-hole. I guarantee he doesn’t believe half the shite his own staff writes for him. It’s all fake, everything is fake.

This sounds like leftist bullshite you would hear during COVID. FCC should have never leaned in on this.

Which is why I explained that they shouldn’t get involved and that the obvious solution was to have consumer pressure and civil lawsuits do what they do best.

The FCC getting involved took him off the hook somewhat for what otherwise would’ve likely been a career ending monologue.

Exactly. And now in pop fiction, he's the victim.

Republicans always seem to blow it when they get the lead.

We don't know how serious Sinclair Jr. really is about acquiring CNN but that would be big. You don't frick that up to land a couple of mean tweats.

Correct. Nothing in Tuckers Video says what the article does.

It is way out of context.

Tucker indeed takes issue with Bondi's nimrod comments as we all did and she clarified

Tucker said some said CK died for Israel. This isn't anywhere I have seen. Then Tucker w/o naming him insinuated BIBi.

I think CK was a bridge with the Israel stuff. Full stop.

We have Bongino saying Israel was his most revered. Weirdness...

Pam Bondi, should be fired.

We need a defender of the Constitution. We don't want to de-platform people because of their speech, but the results of their speech and its implications. All we need to do is look at what's legal vs illegal already. We don't need new speech laws. Simply enforce the laws on the books and go after commies with a vengeance. Speech intended to overthrow the Constitution through conspiracy and with intention to action is already a crime.

Merely having hurt feelings should never be grounds for criminal prosecution. That's a terrible road to go down.

Wrong. Stations agree to rules when they decide to air on the public airwaves. You can't just lie in an attempt to get more people killed like Kimmel did.

All the people complaining about the FCC seem ignorant of the fact that 2 of the largest syndicates refused to air the show. That was more influential than a comment by the FCC saying to abide by the rules.

This was clearly a money decision. That's it.

What Kimmel said didnt violate anything.

It was mean spirited and an attempt to mislead, but he worded it in a way to keep his arse safe.

Get ready for your climate change emergency where "they" destroy what we built.
