I'd imagine the security will be absolutely nuts.

We could terminate all the welfare being used by illegal aliens to pay for the parade.

We would have a surplus enabling Trump to increase the parade capacity - tanks, fly overs. The whole shooting match.

An idea almost as terrible as a fricking border wall...

I voted for that fricker because he promised to stop illegal aliens from invading the U.S. Almost two years in and no sign of victory in that battle. I'll say it now: The border wall will not be built. Trump is looking like an impulsive clown who spouts off grandiose plans but can't deliver.

Anonymous sauces but can we all agree regardless of the cost that this is a terrible idea and a complete waste of money?

It's an excellent idea, but a huge waste of money. However, everything the US government does is a waste of money at least with this waste of money we get to have a party.

As opposed to Hussein’s 150 billion dollar military parade aimed at our own people. Many have died but who’s counting.

I'm having a difficult time figuring out why military men and women who are on a fixed salary and equipment that's already been paid for costs more money marching in a parade versus being stationed somewhere else? The same goes for DC police working security for the parade.

Because it costs a lot of money to transport those soldiers and vehicles to and from the site of some stupid parade, to house and feed them while on this duty, to do the required maintenance on whatever vehicles and aircraft, on and on. It adds up quickly - it cost about $5MM just to transport and train three battalions for a few weeks, and these units were just going from a base with everything ready to go (i.e., their main support base) across the mountains a few hours away to a training area (that also is already prepped to handle this sort of thing).

When I was in, I would have been pissed as all get out if I were pegged to be a part of this goat rope. I can guarantee you that almost everyone involved in the thing will hate being there. It is the rare soldier who actually likes being part of D&C on their own base just in front of their own commanders; doing it in DC like this would be like yanking nails for weeks on end.

You honor the military by letting them enjoy the holiday weekend with their families instead of making them work ridiculous hours weeks prior to the parade, then on the weekend of the parade.

You are exactly why we need one. I will be a proud American watching my family be a part of it.

It's not a waste. In fact it will generate money in tourism. It will generate money in ad sales for the failing fake news networks too.

Well, a) the wall isn't stopping illegal immigration. It's mostly a symbol. b) No one was expecting Congress to resist Trump like they have and for the Dems to turn into open border advocates when just a few years ago they at least gave lip service to the concept of border security.

Liberals

"Why are yall so worried about SNAP? It's only about $50B per year, that's a tiny fraction of the federal budget"

Also liberals

"Goddamit Trump wants to spend $96M on a military parade, that motherfricker just wastes money"

Liberals are truly mentally ill.

Bingo. The rah-rah posters in here need to be paying attention to what the military folks are saying about this.

Just the prep time is going to be insane. Hell we practiced for two weeks just for a Brigade CoC. And for you non-military folks, that's only ~1500 people involved.

Now extrapolate that to this monstrosity in DC.

The service members involved in this are going to get fricked...hard.

All you soi boi, beta fricks are worth a daily chuckle - you are mine today.

Thanks bitch!

How many years have you worn a uniform? I'm at 13.

How can a parade cost 92 million dollars? Somebody is playing with some numbers.

Considering that Solyndra cost US taxpayers $535M, this parade is a steal at $92M.

It’s not Trumps best work.

True that. People who we will be paying anyway should not be considered added costs. I'd like to see how much more we are spending on this than we would be spending if we didn't do it at all.

And this, probably more so than the waste of money, is why I hate this idea. Thank you for your perspective because I was hoping a vet would reply.

If we are gonna spend this money at least do it on something that benefits the military and veterans. Or better yet how about we bring troops home and end wars to save the money. Then I might be on board with a parade.

I work on weekends all the time. It is part of having a job.

Do the United States Armed Services normally shut down all operations on weekends?
