I'm friends with 2 police officers that just retired after Covid times in the Phoenix metro, they were making really good money and their pensions now pay them almost as much as what they made when working. They both just bought F350s and big 5th wheels (160 grand plus worth of equipment apiece) and travelling around the country with their wive's now...My wife and I used to go on trips to Vegas with them a lot, like 3 or 4 times a year. They were definitely not hurting for money when the economy was better.

While I am a fan of Trump, I cannot see creating new government agencies in order to close others. Just close them to begin with.

The parties are switching places. I’m supporting Trump, but I could see myself - in another 10 years - voting against the then Republican platform of a highly progressive tax system due to tax exemptions for waiters, police, firefighters, teachers, and everyone else in the lower and middle income sectors.
And as Trump courts, and wins minority voters, eventually the pressure for Republicans to start catering to them with handouts will be too much to resist. I can see the party dropping principles like self-reliance and small government.
