“The first one would be $1,000 per person, $500 per child,” Mnuchin said. “So for a family of four, that’s a $3,000 payment.”

“As soon as Congress passes this, we get this out in three weeks. And then, six weeks later, if the president still has a national emergency, we’ll deliver another $3,000,” Mnuchin said.

Wouldn't that turn that $500 into a $1,000?

I don't like it, but on the other hand, it would be enough to cover the payments that I'm having to eat on a parked freightliner. win/lose situation.

From what I understand it’s based on your 2018 federal income tax filing.

Not sure I would take it. Don't feel that our personal budget is affected yet other than my daughter being home for college (more groceries) and trying to help my sons with groceries (only because things aren't available where they live -- I won't take money from them although they'll fight about it).

I'm still working albeit from home and it's contract work; part time.

Husband is a farmer so we don't have a "monthly income" -- bank any profit from the sale of the previous years crop and spend wisely.

Glad there is help for all who need/will need it.

Not a big fan of this, but at least it's better than "beefing up" unemployment benefits like the Dems want. People losing their jobs aren't the only ones being affected by this panic.
