Goddamn. You truly hate the idea of terminally ill people having the choice to take something not approved by the almighty government.

By his logic, Why are we even giving chemotherapy to cancer patients since it’s not guaranteed to cure them? Hell, I know some people who have gone through chemo and gotten worse.

If you honestly would rather someone die than try an unapproved drug just because it isn't guaranteed to cure them, there's nothing left to debate with you, unless you want to tackle the problem of your worldview.

You’re creating a binary choice. It’s not a binary choice. If you want to pretend that it is always only ethical to expend every resource in medicine, then you haven’t thought very long about your worldview.

It was my mistake for entering a nuanced argument into the poliboard circle jerk. I apologize.

Your argument is getting progressively dumber.

It’s your argument. At least you see that your argument was dumb.

probably would advise against it. Sometimes death happens. The chances of even extending life after a terminal diagnosis with an experimental medicine is almost minuscule. False hope isn’t hope.

For the topic at hand, yes, it's a binary choice. Either we want patients to voluntarily choose to expand their options in healthcare or we don't. That's what this bill seeks to do: give more options to terminally ill patients.

My worldview is based on the moral law of God who commands us not only to refrain from unlawful killing but to preserve life as best as possible. If a person seeks to preserve their own life through additional treatment options, that is in agreement with my worldview.

Perhaps you are thinking about forcing other people to take treatments that they don't want to take? I'm trying to understand where your mind is on this subject because you haven't been clear about your specific objections.

Liberals

"we need to legalize pot for cancer patients, who really cares what the feds think"

also liberals

"no we must not allow patients to take any drugs that the feds have not approved of"

well it would be funny, if their complete lack of principles wasn't so damn scary.

Exactly! My brother got worse. His tumor grew after they changed his chemo drug. Also, he caught a staph infection from his immune system being compromised. That infection took five days to kill him. So frick chemo!

There is no moral law that states “thou shalt take chemotherapy.”

Correct.

Chemo and radiation are CHOICES.

Now people have more CHOICES.

What is wrong with you?

The pharmaceutical companies would probably give them the experimental treatments for free to fast track approval if it works.

Do you have evidence that they are wanting to extort patients?

I’m not opposed to more choices. But this isn’t going to save maybe even one person’s life. These laws have existed for years at the state level. Proponents cannot point to any marked improvement in access to care or lives saved.

You know I've heard these same arguments against gun control. And yet the Left still wants it.

Cements my thought - If the Left hates it, it's a good thing to support
