This is what’s called massaging the narrative. PDT had no plans to leave TPP and renegotiate. Now that we’re out though it’s been brought to his atten how badly it is for the US trade wise. Now that we have to get back in, here comes the narrative massaging to say that was PDT’s ploy all along.

He possibly didn't have a goal to get back in TPP specifically, as he prefers unilateral deals, but now he sees it's advantageous for some unique reason. Who fricking cares? It's semantics at that point.

Let's hope there are many changes.

That's a nice shiny hook right there Mr. President. The media headlines are now lock-down for the day. Talking heads on CNN will now tell you TPP is fascist and racist effectively killing TPP forever.

How how liberals not figured out his moves yet?

Trump played a lot of folks like a fiddle. Can the ever be honest? Is he allergic to telling the truth?

Since Trump likes reality-show competition between his subordinates, I propose a Game of Thrones trial by combat between Kudlow and Navarro. Winner sets trade policy, loser goes through the Moon Door.

If you believe this leak, he's doing exactly what Hillary would've done When she saw TPP was unpopular and Bernie was landing hits on it she (unconvincingly) pretended to be against it but refused to categorically rule out signing it Everyone knew that she was lying and she'd sign it, probably after some token meaningless changes that she could spin as "fixing" her not-really-existing problems with it If Trump ends up doing the same it will be a genuine but welcome surprise to me Maybe Larry just changed the cover page so it stands for "TRUMP POWER PLAN"

That's 100% dishonest. You should know by know that Trump is and will always look for better deals.

Per the article:

quote:

Trump floated the idea of re-entering the TPP as recently as January, telling CNBC at the time that he would consider signing back onto the agreement "if we were able to make a substantially better deal."

He followed his whole promise to the American people. He withdrew from TPP. He stated he would seek better deals. Now is saying that the conditions might be right to re-negotiate it.

You people are too funny.

I like ole Sassefrass.

quote:

"Clearly, it's a deliberative process, and the president is somebody who likes to blue sky a lot, he... [b]reaffirmed the idea that TPP would be easier for us to join now," Sasse

I thought Trump was against TPP.

Does this mean China won the tariff war?

It means we are entertaining the idea of re-entering TPP under more favorable terms.
