If it's rolling back regulations that make the housing market higher, then government should do that.

Whoever dislikes this is just selfish. I very much portray your average Tigerdroppings Political Board poster/commentor to be in their 50s. You'd be a loser if you didn't have a house in your 50s. Selfishly, they don't want the price of their house to decrease.

This is about the betterment of everyone, not just you. With how house prices are today, tens, maybe hundreds of millions will never be able to afford a home. So, set aside your greed, and think of the betterment of vast majority of people, especially those under 35 to 40.

The average age of first time home buyer is now 38. This isn't about fiscal irresponsibility. It's about how the average home is now 7x one's average income. It was only 3x a few decades ago. That is atrocious. This definitely is a problem that needs to be corrected.

I can guarantee if you were in your 20s or early 30s that you would very much think this is the biggest problem in the US today. Money is a majority of people's problems. Housing is one's largest expense. Therefore, housing problem could be considered the biggest problem today. I think it's a bigger problem than illegal immigration as the financial effects of illegal immigration per capita is way less than now $400k+ for average home.

Average house is now 7x the average American's income. In the 90s, it was 3x. Something obviously has to be done.

I can guarantee that since most here will probably have kids just about to start college, that if Trump said we need to cut tuition by 40%, this would have a vastly higher upvote to downvote ratio.

The housing problem has a lot to do with government regulation and idiot inspections.

This is exactly what the 2 upvotes to 30 downvote ratio on OP is about. Average political board member on TigerDroppings is probably 50 and has a home by now.

It's a very selfish viewpoint of thinking. Because when most here bought a house, the average house price to annual income ratio was probably 3x to 4x. It is 7x today.

There's 0 reason for anyone who bought a house to now be worth 2x in a decade. This is just greed and seflishness at the expense of tens of hundreds of millions of younger Americans. Pure selfishness.

I am glad that Trump is stepping in as it is the biggest problem for vast majority of people under 35.

They should have the exact same opportunity as others on this board had and not be penalized for simply being born later. I can guarantee that since most here will probably have kids just about to start college, that if Trump said we need to cut tuition by 40%, this would have a vastly higher upvote to downvote ratio.

30% drop in prices. All in board for it. I already thought it'd have a dip because who can afford it? Can't really sell something or lease something out if someone can't afford it.

They do have an effect. Politics can effect price of anything. For example, in oil and gas. If federal regulation making getting well permits a lot harder and reject many, this decreases supply and increases price.

If government releases a crap ton of oil from reserves, that increases supply, decreases price.

Government doesn't control 100% the price of something, but it can have a very large effect.
