No, it was formed to defend against a country that no longer exists.

Well to be fair. They have been showing that they have ideas on trying to put it back together.

Well, I was taught by you after all. You’ve taught us that NATO costs us nothing. That’s news to everyone on earth, but it’s good news.

Never said that. I said that defense spending is not paid to NATO and would be spent regardless. I said our administrative and lease/infrastructure costs to maintain a presence in Europe would likewise be spent regardless.

Glad I could educate you, since you’re obviously one of the idiots who thought “NATO funding” is some sort of common pot.

The airstrikes we led, or the permanent mission we installed?

Oh the rest of NATO absolutely wanted the Kosvo mission. Dont be one of those revisionist douches.

The rest of NATO cant do that without the US though, thanks for proving the point.

What about Kosovo?

The USA dragged NATO into Kosovo and succeeded in setting up an Islamic narco-terrorist nation in Europe.

Primarily Germany and then the USA bullied much of the rest of NATO into participating.

That whole fkin deal was a farce and and NATO lost all credibility IMO on March 24, 1999.

NATO Air Command is based at Ramstein. So is our Europe-Africa air command.

Still a German base, and no one gives one single cent to “NATO” to run it or operate there

So we could leave NATO and still have a presence at Ramstein (or anywhere else/other bases) with German permission and partnership?

You seem knowledgeable about this stuff - it seems that the logistical benefits you and others give for being in NATO could be gotten via bilateral negotiations. That might make it less efficient in some sense, but still doable.
What are the actual benefits of NATO that would be impossible, or almost impossible, to get bilaterally?

Who said they didn’t?

We still did the overwhelming amount of the bombing, and led it.

None. Being in NATO simply makes those benefits easier and cheaper with zero negative repercussions.

Only people who think that “NATO funding” is some big common pot of money that people pay into believe we are harmed or disadvantaged in some way by being a member.

So they don't need us. Why are we there?

Because we want to be. NATO has made it much easier and cheaper for the USA to project strength on a global level.

Isn't NATO a military alliance under the jurisdiction of the C-I-C? Court challenge incoming.

I'd rather see Trump discuss withdrawing Isreal from Congress and the White House

It’s completely amazing that people still think there’s some common NATO military pot that countries pay into. I don’t understand how so many here still do not understand.

And even about five people making the same mistake after you first clarified it.
