I have two really good Jewish friends, and between them both (not together), they own about 60 houses in Birmingham and Atlanta that they rent out Sec 8. I can safely say, that if that program is done away with, they will trip over themselves to sell those houses as they would never try to collect rent from a bunch of deadbeats.

My dad has some run down trailers he rents for about $350/mo to the absolute dregs of society.
He learned early on that you keep the water bill in your name. When they don’t pay rent you cut the water. That gets them to move quicker than the eviction process.
He told me one tenant wouldn’t even leave with no water. He said they were shitting in the bathtub after the toilet filled up.

In theory, all of the people on here who gripe about crime would really really have something to gripe about.

It's maddening and heart breaking to see immigrants come here, bust arse and live the dream(even the illegals). But lazy arse citizens can't be bothered to do anything.

It will never happen. But if we would end all but the most extreme cases of welfare, we could start saving this country.

I know a few property owners in BR that will be screwed

Really? How did they find section 8 tenants who don't demolish their property?

Serious question. I've truly never met a happy property owner who allows section 8 tenants.

If you're eligible for Section 8, you can't afford even a crappy house today. The states would have to do something to prevent homelessness from skyrocketing.

Once the gov't exits the market, prices will normalize. Same with student loans and a college education. Things that receive a gov't guaranteed subsidy ALWAYS increase in price.

Not much left as far as decent neighborhoods in Birmingham.

I moved away years ago.
I go back now and then.

I would guess Crestline and the part of Birmingham near English Village are nice areas.

Ensley is probably less safe that Gaza.

There are only 140 people who live within 5 miles of it. But 75% of the people there are on welfare and many are over 50 years of age and NEVER HAD A JOB during their lifetime. Thats ridiculous.

That sounds like fraud… how could those people own and keep up a farm? If I’m not mistaken they ask you what assets you own on the welfare application?

I assume they’re on farms too in such a sparsely populated area

It will also force many on the govt tit to go out and find a job.

Lots of job vacancies need filling after we deport illegals.
