President Trump early Wednesday suggested taking away news networks' press credentials over "negative" coverage.
"The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake)," Trump wrote on Twitter.
"Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?"
Trump frequently criticizes major news outlets for so-called fake news and has threatened in the past to remove press credentials for a number of outlets.
During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump took away some news outlets' press credentials. Such outlets were able to cover his rallies but were cut off from his press conferences and any special access reporters with credentials normally receive.
Cutting off press credentials would not mean reporters can no longer cover the president.
Trump's latest threat to take away press credentials comes after The Washington Post and other outlets confirmed some of the claims made by adult-film star Stormy Daniels's attorney Michael Avenatti on Tuesday about Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

I don’t think he should revoke credentials but they absolutely deserve the utmost amount of criticism. The media in this country is nothing short of an enemy.

While I wouldn't strip outlets of their credentials, I would tell them that continual breaches of etiquette would result in certain reporters being banned.
I would also penalize certain outlets by taking away their premium seats and access.
Put CNN in the back. They have no more right to a front row seat than the Daily Reveille.

I would absolutely love to see him direct the communications wing to pull certain credentials ... NY Times, CNN, Washington Post for starters.

Basically all it means is that they would not be allowed to be present in the White House to ask questions. They would still be able to report what they watch streaming live.

I really have zero trouble with removing press credential of openly adversarial and obvious party shill reporters.
It isn't like there's some right to a press credential. If there were, press conferences would have to take place in Tiger Stadium.

They already exclude thousands of media outlets from White House press credentials. There is no right for a specific media outlet to get a credential.
If he canceled one outlet, and gives that pass to an outlet that did not have access, then there is no net change in media coverage.
He should cancel CNN and give it to some small town newspaper.
