Unless you are retiring tomorrow the stock market is mostly irrelevant to your day to day life.

And unless you are a retard you know that our economy has been dog shite propped up by printing $10 trillion in the last 5 years and there will be a correction at some point.

So the real question you should be asking is what gives us a better shot of beating the cancer while it is still stage 2?

Trump/America First/DOGE or Uniparty Status Quo.

One gives us a chance, the other accelerates us to stage 4 metastasized and death

I am fine with funding the world.

Can you explain to me how another country imposing a tariff on US imports that their citizens pay equals the US "funding the world?"

Here are arguments I understand for tariffs:

1. It would be better and everyone would pay lower prices if no one placed tariffs on any imports anywhere...if we had free markets without protectionist government interference. Trump's tariffs are to try to force this outcome.

I'm a conservative. I like free markets. So to the degree that this is achievable, I like this one. I just am not sure it is as achievable as populists think, especially with trade partners like China (not every trade partner is Mexico), and I think there are risks with pushing it too hard. And if it drags out, the American economy will suffer.

If in 18 months or so China and everyone else has dropped their tariffs (including us) and everybody is content with that, I will be happy to have discovered that my concerns were unfounded.

2. Tariffs will bring American jobs back. There's no scenario in which this one doesn't result in higher prices for American consumers. The whole reason those jobs left in the first place is because the person working the line at the average plant in America makes $17 an hour and the average plant worker in China makes $6.75 an hour. There's simply no way to absorb a labor increase of over 2 1/2 times without raising prices. Not to mention, $17 an hour jobs are not going to set the economy on fire no mater how many of them tariffs bring back.

3. "It's Not Fair!" This is just a middle school whine that has no real world understanding of the economic dynamics being discussed.

4. To protect American industries. To force Americans to buy American. Again, I'm not sure this isn't going to have unintended consequences. Foreign imports are part of the pricing ecosystem. Let's take automobiles.

(Just using round, made-up numbers for easy comparisons)

Let's say that you can buy a comparable vehicle made by BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Honda, Toyota, Ford, and GM.

Let's say that BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche all charge $95,000 for theirs, Honda and Toyota charge $70,000 for theirs, and Ford and GM charge $50,000 for theirs.

The tariffs cause the first group's prices to go up to $120,000 and the second group's to go up to $85,000. Why would anyone think that the third group's prices would stay the same? Under what circumstances would that happen?

They could raise their prices overnight to $65,000, still maintain the same price gap they had before and keep the same market share.

So I am not a fan of the protectionist argument.

In short, the only way tariffs bring prices down instead of driving them up for us is if Trump can force everyone to drop them and we drop ours. And there will still be pain while that process plays out.

But I can't see any scenario in which we are "funding the world" by China or Canada or France imposing tariffs on their own citizens.

But it’s all threats, he’s not gonna do them. His message is all over the place. Sometimes he brings up reciprocal tariffs, but then it’s cuz he’s not satisfied with border security.

Come to your senses and check your emotions. You seem fearful. Be patient and let’s see how it plays out.
Trump led a record economy in 2019 and I believe within 18 months, our economy will really start kicking back.
He’s been right 90% of the time. Chill.
