President Trump’s protective tariffs on imported steel, aluminum, solar panels, and washing machines have created more than 11,000 American jobs over the course of six months, a new study reveals.
Analysis conducted by a Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) finds that Trump’s tariffs, thus far, have created about 11,100 American jobs throughout the country, a far cry from the job losses that were predicted by free trade economists and pundits.
“The national media is generally ignoring the job creation arising from the country’s new strategic trade posture. This information is important. These jobs will have substantial positive effects on local economies and the national US economy,” economist Jeff Ferry said in a statement. “They are in general well-paid manufacturing jobs in high-productivity businesses. Those new jobs will contribute to the creation of thousands of service sector jobs and they will stimulate local economies.”
The CPA study found “notable increases” in domestic steel and aluminum jobs. In the steel industry, alone, nearly 5,000 manufacturing jobs have been created. In the aluminum industry, a little less than 3,000 manufacturing jobs have been created thanks to Trump’s tariffs.

“President Trump’s safeguard actions are working well, and are already having a direct effect on US manufacturing,” CPA Chair Dan DiMicco, who worked on Trump’s transition team, said in a statement. “We’re very pleased to see the results that come from enforcing America’s trade laws, and we expect more high-paying jobs to keep coming online.”
In the solar industry, there have been 1,150 new U.S. jobs created thanks to the tariffs and another 2,100 jobs created in the washing machine industry.

You really didn’t expect an organization whose board chairman is the president of Nucor to create a study saying the tariffs are bad did you?
By the way, of the 16000 request for exclusions from the steel tariffs NONE that Nucor has opposed has been approved. Ross is very close to steel.
The hearings on the very largest tariffs Trump proposed begin this week. They will hit literally hundreds of thousands of businesses. Congressional members are hearing from these companies and are laying low. If implemented you will all see the impacts by year end.
It is no coindence that Trumps people said Friday, right before the hearings, that they hoped to have a deal done with China by November. The tariffs are hitting the republican fund raising pocket books right now. You boys should all send in some money to make up for the shortfall.

hmm, maybe they're using some obama-style "created or saved" style of metric?
data over 2018 for primary metals manufacturing employment:
steel mills:
aluminum production:
i have no doubt that protected groups benefit from protectionism. and them shilling for it via advocacy groups is of course to be expected.
but claiming having created 11,000 jobs is...really hard to see in the data to put it kindly. it's also really hard to see any acceleration post-february (their preferred timing) over the previous several months overall as well

From the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Primary Metal Manufacturers:
April May June July
All employees 380K 380K 382K 382K
Unemployment 3.4 4.8 2.8 2.3
Proof, ya need to throw away that bar napkin you got that graph from......
Just proves the hundreds of thousands of jobs lost didnt happen, and the workers pay has gone up to boot, and its not hurting sales because consumer retail sales are skyrocketing. Then I guess since global warming has been debunked those graphic illustrators gotta find work somewhere.
Did I mention capital expenditures are up 39% the first quarter, and what do you spend capital on...steel and aluminum....soon to be AMERICAN steel and aluminum.

Using this logic and knowing you are allegedly impacted negatively by tariffs by your own admission, we really shouldn’t expect you to make posts that are objective about them either then?
Congrats on discrediting your own arguments in an attempt to discredit others.

Tariffs are taxes on the consumer. So, if the gov’t artificially driving prices up created a few more jobs, it was at the expense of millions of consumers paying artificially higher prices.

The reason they work is because we have praised the free market as infallible for about 75 years while our actions have created a system of subsidies from US Firms to and US Workers to the competition around the globe. We allowed the rest of the world to enjoy the benefits of a free ( relative speaking) market while we single handedly paid the bill. Though about 1976 this was a basic tenet of democrat economic policy....protectionism. Ronald Reagan fooled us into thinking the free market was pristine while we paid for that freedom. Donald Trump has put the lie to Reagan conservatism.....thank the Christ. All of that clap trap is DONE. Every politician running for office on both sides are going to sound more like 1970s democrats than 1980 Reagan conservatives for at least a generation.
Make no mistake....Tarriffs are a TAX. Imposition of these TAX increase has done bupkus to slow the economy.....putting the lie, once again, to supply side economics. Not that we don’t have ample, irrefutable proof that supply side economics only benefits the investor class and poor people in nations not named the United States of America.
My only concern is that the right has been so indoctrinated to believe in free markets being paid for in Toto by one participant and supply side economics that y’all will fall for it again. Build all the walls you want. Ban abortion. Get out with tiki torches and tout the inherent superiority of the Caucasian race. Hell pray for 2 hours a day in public schools and beat the shite out of kids who don’t participate. Just do not buy into Reaganesque economic policy again and the US middle class will, indeed, be great once again.

Could this be because the GOPe were whored out to the wrong people? People who don’t actually put America first? If so, tariffs are helping clean the swamp.
Is incoming funds to the RNC more important than jobs to you?
