In what world is it fair for a country to charge us extremely higher %’s and we don’t charge them al all.
Tariffs aren’t charged to the other country though. Another country placing a tariff on US imports (from their perspective) is them charging their citizens to import products from us.

So basically nothing in the scheme of the federal budget.
That can be about a 15% reduction in the deficit
That’s not nothing

I’ll never understand the need to take a victory lap over increased taxes. Just wait until the Democrats take over the White House and see what they do with them. Trump has doomed us all.

Bow much more are you paying in taxes due to tariffs?

It’s because somehow people don’t understand how tariffs work. They think that US exporters have been getting charged a ton of money from other countries and they now think that we are charging foreign countries to send stuff over here.
There is absolutely a use case for tariffs but if used mainly as a revenue generating policy, it’s very similar to just an increase in sales tax

People also never blame the consumer for the goods they’re buying. Aggressive tariffs in this administration have also been used for trade leverage, protection of US markets and sanctions. The overwhelming shite China dumps into our country and the consumers who eat it up are disguting. But again nobody discusses that in the tariff discussion.

And those are more nuanced reasons why we could have some level of tariffs. However it doesn’t really change the fact that many people don’t understand how they work at their core level, but Trump has not been particularly honest about it either like the tariff rebates which, when you know how the money is collected, make literally no sense

Because the federal budget works like personal finance and it’s going to pay off the bills?

Why would anybody be mad that another country charged their citizens to import our products lol
So, you support markets being closed to American companies but want our market flooded with cheap foreign goods.
How do conservatives not understand that money leaving your country for another country is not a good thing? If you want America to thrive, then money should be coming in.

Largest tax increase on US consumers in history. Why is anyone happy about this?
