Trump is probably the oddest case in political history as a guy no one really liked who somehow increased his likability as he kept running his mouth.
Main reason it worked is that he said what everyone was thinking rather than do normal political bullshite.
By contrast, most other politicians who see their favorability crater can’t change that outside of a massive one time event along the lines of a 9/11.

That wasn’t spiteful or hateful. Most of it was a commentary on the media. And it’s not that different than what media outlets were saying about Powell.
