But none of that is in the deal that we know of as of yet. It’s just a security deal.
Not only do you not know this, but it contradicts what Trump just said about it. For frick's sake, stop being a re-tard.

NATO members didn’t and don’t let us use joint bases for Iran operations. So there’s no reason to think they would give us unfettered use of a base on Greenland.
They have no power over the US. Hegseth is calling for a NATO 3.0

Sorry but I’ll believe Trump over any article or news report

Can someone explain what’s different here?
Were China and Russia establishing bases in Greenland?
US already had bases there.

How many US military bases do we have in Greenland right now?
Is it just the one?

Good deal.
I want Iceland more, though.

I wouldn't be opposed to pulling entirely out of all bases that aren't in our hemisphere, with Japan being the exception.
Now that several of the Central and South American countries are having a Renaissance and resurgence of sorts, it's time to build "fortress America" and focus trade and defense on the North and South American continents exclusively. Canada will have to be brought to heel in this plan, but thats doable.
Between the two continents, every resource whether human or natural is aplenty. Shutting out the rest of the world and guaranteeing our own survival should be paramount now more than ever.

Trump is connected to reality about as much as McConnell is.

Yes, Pituffik (formerly Thule).
There are apparently a couple of “strategic sites” we want to revitalize.

Nah dude don’t let Trump keep jozzing on your face.
If it includes a mineral deal, great. If not it’s just a deal that says we get to pay to defend Denmark’s territory.

Wasn’t this kind of de facto the case already? Seems like they’re just trying to reach for any win right now.
Do you really think Trump wanted a 51st state?
No, he wanted access to the minerals and to ensure we could keep anyone we don’t like out of the western hemisphere, that island is incredibly strategically important from a naval standpoint.

This is about much more than just military bases.
Trump says that the deal grants the US the security rights, but also "all other needs" that the US has with Greenland. They haven't been shy about what they want out of Greenland. This is going to be about oil and rare Earths as well. Which is a huge deal.

Me too. I posted it for the news that Hegseth said we need a NATO 3.0 and I believe it will happen.

I figured they were already locked out. Due to NATO, and we have a history of bases on Greenland including at least one currently.
I’m not going to pretend that I knew the details of the arrangement to have bases in Greenland prior to this deal, but there are other countries that are typically in alliance with the U.S. that allowed for Chinese and Russian assets, if not bases, in their territory.
Panama is an example, and so are many 3rd world nations where China initiated Belt and Road projects, or where Communist politicians took control.
With the EU being so openly anti-American, in fact if not in word, long before Trump became president, it was questionable whether Denmark might allow incursions of Russian or Chinese “companies” or communication networks, or “refueling access” in Greenland.

If tweet fails to load, click here. I believe I'll take Trump at his word on this before some random retard on the internet who has no clue and is just looking, yet again, for a reason to be outraged by the things Trump does. People like you are thoroughly frickin' broken.

How does it differ from the agreement that has been in place for 75 years? That is the real measure of the new deal.

I'm happy to see it, could have done without all the drama.

This is in writing, and from how it reads the US can expand its presence while prohibiting adversarial countries from investing there. As the Article Ocean opens up more and more, Greenland gains strategic importance since it sits along the corridor between the Arctic Ocean and North Atlantic. For example ships and subs from Russia need to pass it to get to the US from the north.
