Before you opened the thread? Really? Well Nostradamus, then you'll know what each example cited in the post you responded to means as well.
Those were:
quote:

Intercourse is intercourse.
Going down is going down.
Screwing someone is screwing someone.

Yet you have not the least clue as to what any of that means in terms of this post.
Take your time.

There was nothing factually wrong about the original title. What’s been shown is that a lot of you don’t mind being taxed just so long as it’s called something else.

Trump didn't say he was prepared to raise taxes. Your title said he did.

He did though. He said he was willing to tax Americans on all Chinese imports. That specific tax we call a tariff, but it is what it is.

Correct.

Just as there'd be noting factually wrong with me saying Jimmy Kimmel and Stormy Daniels had intercourse on the set and obviously enjoyed it.

Misleading?
You bet your arse.

Factually wrong?
Nope.

You could argue the original title was unclear, but it was objectively correct since a tarriff is a tax.

No, he didn't. You can modify his statements based on whatever you're trying to say, just as long as you understand that you are in fact modifying them.

If Trump said "I watched a lawnmower go across the south lawn this morning" and you start a thread titled "Trump said he watched a vehicle go across the south lawn," your title would be wrong, even if the modification is still accurate yet regressive in its descriptive nature.

This weak sauce is what I'm going to hit 20K answering?

If I had a question on the specific meaning and cared, I'd probably open the thread. Usually when a statement obviously and purposefully leaves wiggle room for interpretation and litigation, it's likely there's at least partly some trolling at work, and/or an uncomfortable point being made. You know, actual misleading and purposefully unsubstantiated stuff gets posted in thread titles with some frequency around here.

Yep, before I opened the thread.

I also had a good idea that OP was getting at tariffs-are-taxes just from that. It seems likely that your examples, however, are made up. I know very well the context of the trade war and the import taxes Trump is threatening, but go ahead and throw out some sample thread titles describing news events involving intercourse or whatever and I'll hazard a guess

False!
Trump used the term tariff. Everyone knows what tariff means.

Link the statement Trump made using the term "tax" or "taxes".

It doesn’t matter what he calls it, a tarrif is a tax. And if people are so up in arms about calling it what it is, then maybe they should worry about what it is instead of making some asinine arguments to downplay it to minimize the cognitive dissonance.

So no answer.

Possibly, but there are enough reasonable opinions there to keep it a bit balanced.

OK. Well when Bernie starts talking about “living wages,” I expect you to use only the terminology that Bernie use the words he uses and not what it is in reality. Maybe he should start calling “income taxes” something like “poverty fighting fees” so we can’t argue that they are taxes since Bernie didn’t say they were.

Gnome, the article said tariff. You changed that to tax to make it more confusing.

This was done with the intent to get attention and not bring a discussion point here.

This was just a sad troll, does that make you feel good?

Contrast that to your periodic space threads you do on the O-T. People thank you/enjoy them and they actually add value to the overall board.

Which one makes you feel better as a person? People thanking you for bringing them some knowledge or hating you for intentional misleading?

A reasonable thought process:

Reads thread title: lol, why would Trump raise taxes as a result of Chinese tariffs?

Looks in thread: ah, he meant tariffs. Why would he say it that way? Dumb way to put it.

Reads link: oh, he did say tariffs. OK, that makes much more sense. Why would the title say he said taxes?

Looks at author: oh, probably a troll.

The fact is that the government withholding additional money from my earnings is functionally different than certain products becoming slightly more expensive. Your thread title was misleading in the common parlance. Your feigning ignorance of this is hackish frickery.
