- The post cites a January 2026 National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP) analysis projecting that Trump administration policies will cut U.S. legal immigration by 33% to 50%, equating to 1.5 million to 2.4 million fewer green cards over four years compared to recent baselines.
- Key drivers include refugee admission caps, expanded "public charge" rules blocking family-based visas, a 39-country travel ban, a 75-country application freeze affecting 93 nations total, and restrictions on diversity visas and student work programs.
- NFAP, a nonpartisan group advocating high-skilled immigration, warns these measures could reduce the U.S. workforce by 15.7 million by 2035, slowing annual GDP growth by nearly one-third and increasing federal debt by $1.74 trillion.

This is good, but really think we need a complete pause on immigration for at least the remainder of his term.

But the Indians will keep flooding in, right?

IMO we should have a moratorium on "legal" immigration however this is a good step in the right direction.
There is conflict between the Necons/U.S. Chamber of Commerce lobby and the people. At least Trump is making the lobbyists compromise. The people have been getting run over by DC lobbyists for the last few decades and getting everything they want. Time for the people to get thrown a bone or two now.

Sadly, Trump and Vance want them here for some reason. There's all kinds of H1B fraud going on in North Texas. They come in on H1Bs to a "tech company" that's located at a house, but the H1B worker is actually a 7-11 clerk.

Why?
1. Reduce pressure on American culture.
2. Decrease supply and allow wages to rise.
3. Reduce fiscal strain...a large proportion of new immigrates become a liability for the state.
4. Reduce demand especially in housing thus stabilizing housing prices and making it easier for American home buyers to enter the market quicker.
5. Reduce local law enforcement demands.
6. Reduce the risk of immigrants with bad intent, i.e., terrorists.

Seems like all of this could be achieved simply by being more selective

Of course.
But it's about timing. We just need to slow our roll on immigration and be selective. We are not getting the best and brightest from Somalia and Hatti.

Why not 1 legal immigrant for every 1000 illegals removed?

We need to get our house order before we invite guests.
