I think he did alright, better as the night wore on. But I think the coordinated onslaught and amplification of Democrat Party talking points was so substantial that it dominated the staged event. Therefore, I believe it helped the Democrats by saturation. And, sadly, the media influences and sways people, especially the kind of people who watched this tonight...undecided milquetoast mushheads

I completely understand that. You think he did well now think about the people watching who only ever hear about Trump's negatives because they aren't engaged in politics day in and day out like we are. They only ever see clips on the view or the nightly news that portray Trump as the worst person alive. You don't think him coming across as a human, and not the monster he is portrayed as, is helpful to him? I get downvotes a lot because I point out Trump's negatives but this is the best I've ever seen him.

Stop with the its not fair argument because Biden gets kid gloves treatment. This election is a referendum of Trump and Biden is just along for the ride. Trump has the most difficult job in the world by being President of the United States. If he wilts under pressure over tough and hostile questions he shouldnt have the job. As I said at the beginning of this thread he did just fine. In fact i would say he did great.

The reason I said it wasn't fair to Trump is because it was billed as being questions from undecided voters when it was anything but. I didn't expect him to get questions from undecided voters though. I spent all day defending his decision to do this because his willingness to subject himself to difficult questions, from his opponents, is one of his best qualities. I agree with you that he did a good to great job overall (B+ or so). He started off shaky but settled in and his last 2 or 3 answers were A to A+ range, hence the upbrubt ending and weird commercial breaks.

I don’t think anyone will vote for him because they feel sorry for him.
Of course not, but that's not my point. They will see him treated so unfairly and responding to it with a calm demeanor, better than they would have responded in his situation.

Most empathetic people don't want to watch someone being treated so unjustly. It doesn't sit well with people who don't have a hatred of him.

They just gave Trump all the gotcha questions they could use in the debate. It takes the sting out of them every time they are asked and he gets better and better at addressing them.

Trump scored points tonight.

His remarks about the violence were powerful and won votes.

Additionally, the last 2 segments were BIG LEAGUE homeruns for MAGA

someone at ABC screwed the pooch by letting that 2nd to last chick in!

my guess is they "profiled" her and got burned (brown skinned Latina chick)

she set Trump up with a soft ball and gave him fantastic sympathy and empathy points

talked about how her mamma died, essentially thanked Trump for being an American and told her LEGAL immigration story -- said that her mamma became a citizen 10 days before she died with Covid complications & cried while doing it, then talked AGAIN about how proud SHE was to be an American

Trump's response was powerful

Off-topic but am I the last person to know that supermarket sweep was coming back? Man, I hope they can capture 75% of the amazingness that was the original.

My wife said pretty much the same thing. I told her Leslie Jones was hosting and she said "well, that sucks."

Unpopular opinion but I don't think she is as bad as people here make her out to be. She isn't an amazing comedian but I could stomach her as a gameshow host. I mean, Steve Harvey is incredibly successful right now and he is not funny at all. Leslie Jones at least makes me laugh occasionally.

ABC is good at remaking classic game shows with shitty hosts. GSN and Buzzr with the reruns are still good to watch though.

Agree to disagree. Leslie is unfunny, loud, obnoxious and ratchet asf.

My local ABC showed it 8 PM Mountain time so I was about an hour behind some of the folks on this thread.

I thought he did a lot better than some of the early comments had indicated on here.

I think it was a net positive. If anything he continues to show that he can sit there for hours and take questions and be engaged.

Biden cant do that.

Biden isnt going to show so this was the debate and thats why Trump agreed to do it with ABC. If he didnt agree to this format he wouldnt get the opportunity to be on a non-cable network for an hour and a half to share his message. As Trump has shown over the last 4 years he is always one step ahead and he just keeps on winning.

Trump to the woman who explained how her mom died of cancer: "Did YOU have Covid? You didn't have it, right? You didn't have it? Your mother. Uh, we’ll have it taken care of. It's going to get taken care of. The vaccines are gonna make a big difference."

This is the main CNN "fact checker." I called it that this would be a big talking point for them. Completely ignores 99% of Trump's response and actual answer to the immigration question.

"All the left is going to show is Madea telling the President to wait for her to finish asking her question & giving her pre-planned attack on him. She is going to be a Celeb & household name tomorrow on MSNBC/CNN/Social media

I saw a very rude woman addressing the president showing anger and no respect. The President responded with patience and class. I think if you are fair-minded you would see that too. If you couldn't then it won't make much difference. Those are not the people Potus was trying to reach.
