My understanding is that Trump loves to win over his detractors. In my opinion, he seems to be very good at it.

Not a Trump guy but that's an impressive list. Glad he is surrounding himself with the best and brightest.

Amazon is on the cutting edge of machine learning technology, arguably one of the most powerful tools available today (and still in its infancy). Many of the companies on this list have that in common. Smart for Trump to build relationships with these companies no matter their political leanings; they could hold significant power over the future.

It continues to amaze me that some of you are dissapointed that Trump doesn't hold onto campaign grudges.

Tell me what you think is better after WaPo slanders the President in the future. To have the owner of the paper recluse, defensive, and inaccessible? Or to have the owner of the paper one called meeting away and surrounded by his peers?

Which portrays the President in more of a position of strength?

Same with Romney, Ryan, McConnell, et al...

They are useless as exiles. Bezos is one of the most powerful men in the country, and his company is a huge piece of the consumerism puzzle for the entire country. It would be stupid to NOT at least have his ear. Y'all really need to get over the campaign and govern. Trump has.

I love it.

Trump needs some tech business minds in his circle.

The difference being many of his subsidized projects have failed or been rolled into SpaceX or Tesla to minimize the losses.

They were sustainable, green projects that failed but continued to be subsidized under a new name. I can see why that would irk some people.

I don't get the angst. I think this is one of the better things Trump has done.

All of these people are pretty brilliant, politics aside. Why wouldn't Trump want to entertain their ideas? It's not like he put together a group of actors and pop stars.

More or less, yeah. Obama seemed to plug in to the entertainment industry. Trump, being part entertainer himself, probably will too, but I like what he's doing here.

It may be largely for show, but the concept of bringing in stars and business leaders who disagree with you in a "I'm President, you're influential, let's talk about shite" way is a good idea (both politically and substantively).

I agree. I think what he is doing is brilliant. I don't think he has done one thing wrong so far although I would like to see Kellyanne Conway in a more prominent public role. Also would have rather had Carson as HHS instead of HUD. But that's small potatoes and who knows if they wanted those positions.

The public courting and then subtle dumping of Romney was masterful.

It should irk everyone who isn't a scam artist like Elon Musk.

I don't even think this was his intent TBH. If it was, it was shitty.

No way to know for sure but I thought the very first second that he was floating Romney that it was just a big show to make Romney come around and bend the knee. Which he did.
