Uh, I've hated McCain for 20 years. Was Trump running for anything then?

Very reluctantly.

Looking back I don't know who would have been worse. McCain would of given us more disastrous foreign policy and Obama gave us Obamacare.

The link you posted about the Forestal incident says he was in the jet that got hit by the missile, not that he accidentally launched it.

Other than being ready to sign....what has he brought to the table in the way of innovative ideas, solutions, guidance, etc? Repeal and replace, now only repeal seems to be the best he can do. Sad day, when a president would throw in the towel....
My point, use the business skills he supposedly has and get the right people, the two sides together, and make progress. Make it happen. DT has operated in a different world than 95% of the rest of us. His way or the highway, intimidating underlings into action, and barking orders just does not work as leader of this country. Reaching out, building consensus, and enabling action can get it done.

Yes that is his talking point except for the fact that they KNEW he was an admirals son.

He was in fact not treated as bad as his fellow prisoners because of it.

This is fair criticism for Trump on healthcare. During the primaries he expressed that he wanted basically medicare for the poor and those with pre-existing conditions and regular market insurance for the rest of the people. I remember Trump specifically saying "we can't have people dying in the streets because they don't have health insurance" in his Trumpian manner. With that said, McConnell did tell him to sit on the sidelines while the senate worked the health care bill out. Trump obliged McConnell but McConnell failed. You just might see Trump getting more involved now. With McConnell failing he probably has a little more political leverage.

You should as a act of common decency remove Burt as your avatar.

Maybe a flower instead.

Yep, I was completely misinformed. That's what I get for going by sea stories in the fleet.

Thanks for admitting you were wrong but how are people supposed to take you or any of the others in this thread saying McCain was responsible for killing 100 sailors seriously when you can't even comprehend what you read?
I also don't understand the hate against McCain for being a legacy. Plenty of great military officers are legacies. It's a pretty insular community.

Bottom line......we will all die eventually and have to give an account of our lives. Even the invincible John McCain.

So....be nice to people on your way up, you just might meet them on your way back down.

No it doesn't.
The McCain of the last few years has been a poor public servant.
But I will always remember the McCain who laid it on the line in the service of his country. Its my freedom and right to do so as it is for others to think what they will.

That link literally says that John McCain was hit by the rocket that was accidentally shot, not that he shot it.

Doesn't make him a bad one either and frick all the losers coming out the woodwork that claim to know a guy that knew a guy that might have been in the Navy around the same time as McCain and heard from some other guys that he sucked.

The article you posted in your OP is from a full-fledged libertarian conspiracy nut job who is anti-McCain because he thinks he a warmonger (I'm not judging whether he is or isn't).

Then the second article YOU POSTED later in the thread in response to a request for you to prove the event actually happened, disproves the first B.S. article you posted (as has been pointed out in this thread).

I just want to post part of YOUR OWN ARTICLE that proves that you are a complete jackass and flat out lied by posting the OP.

During the Vietnam War, the USS Forrestal was often stationed off the coast of North Vietnam, conducting combat operations. On the morning of July 29, the ship was preparing to attack when a rocket from one of its own F-4 Phantom jet fighters was accidentally launched. The rocket streaked across the deck and hit a parked A-4 Skyhawk jet. The Skyhawk, which was waiting to take off, was piloted by John McCain, the future senator from Arizona.

You post stuff you know is a lie. You're trash.

Because it equates some schlunk who was a mechanic at Fort Polk who joined up to stay out of prison or get the benefits, with people who returned from Europe, Vietnam, the Pacific theater, etc. where real fighting occurred.

It is not the same.

Few people call someone who completed a stateside tour a "returning veteran". Veteran, maybe, but "returning veteran" typically refers to someone returning from a combat zone.
