As much as I am for legalization across the board. I hope the medical MJ industry gets fricked raw on this. Those scum bags were right with big alcohol on pushing Hemp derived THC bans.

fricking pharma companies wrote out those schedules. Notice the stuff that grows out of the ground is up in the NO WAY SCH 1 class. Then in the tiers below it you have crap like ambien, benzos, tramadol, vicodan, etc. that are addictive as hell but they are made by a Fortune 100 company and we can't be cuttin those profits and dividends.
And every time like clockwork on this topic we have the conservatives on here that cheer freedom but if it is something they don't like they want to tell you how to live.

Notice that those two statements—in addition to the fact that the second one is a gross hyperbole—do not follow logically. Even if we grant the hyperbole as fact, so what if alcohol is more dangerous? That's an argument for criminalizing alcohol, not de-scheduling weed. Especially if it really is that much more dangerous.
Gross hyperbole? Let me embarrass you, there are on average 180,000 alcohol related deaths in the United States annually while there are ZERO marijuana deaths.
What’s your IQ buddy?

This is actually huge.
Rescheduling it will open the door for banks to start offering loans and credit cards to be used to purchase.
This is a really big deal.
that's been the case in colorado for years. i get united miles on my card at the weed store all the time

I have no problem with Marijuana being completely legal as alcohol. I just think it should heavily enforced and penalized to an extent for doing it in public our around children.

Explain why it shouldn't be III. It has acceptable medical uses. You could smoke it every day for a year and quit without withdrawal.
Fact - Alcohol is more damaging and addictive.
Oh and before you call me pothead. I don't smoke and I hate people who ruin outdoor events with the stench of pot.

I sometimes do suffer secondary embarrassment when someone is being really stupid, but in your case it's not taking effect. Not yet, anyway.

Yeah. Well, that's complete bullshite.
First of all, 66% of Americans drink alcohol. Only 19% of Americans use weed. So of course you would expect the raw number of alcohol related deaths to be higher, as more than three times as many people use it.
Second of all, the CDC doesn't classify or collect data on deaths related to marijuana like they do alcohol. It could be twice the number of people who die of alcohol per capita and you wouldn't know because they don't collect that data or publish it. I'm not saying it is, I'm saying there's no way to know.

Just from this conversation I would estimate roughly 2.5 times yours.
Big weed smoker, are you? That tracks, doesn't it?

as much as it pains me to agree with strannix, he's right here
it's virtually if not completely impossible to kill yourself with weed. you can drink yourself to death tonight if you've got the stones for it

frickin’ stinky losers, smoke in private then shower. Heck, eat Cheetos in the shower. Then IDGAF.
Correct smoke it in private not public.

How come they needed to add an amendment to the constitution to outlaw alcohol, but they can outlaw things like weed with the stroke a pen?

Yeah, but that ignores that the numbers he's quoting aren't just from alcohol poisoning or overdose. They are alcohol related deaths. Which means that they could be from acute alcohol poisoning or long term liver disease or from crashing your car into the side of a Krispy Kreme while stoned as a bat. (And he also cherry picked a year in which the alcohol related deaths jumped way up, but I let that slide).
Sure, no one dies from weed overdoses, but they do die from accidents related to impairment. Weed contains carcinogens and toxins (tar, carbon monoxide) that we know cause heart disease and lung cancer because they have been studied in tobacco. Etc.
That's the point. No one knows yet. The data hasn't been available because weed hasn't been legal for long enough for enough studies to have been done following enough people over a long enough period of time.

sort of fair i guess
i don't think there's any question that alcohol causes more health damage, more violence and more mayhem than weed. but to be clear i'm not saying weed is harmless and it doesn't damage lungs or cause people to nod off behind the wheel
booze is still a million times worse imo but that's just my opinion
