re: Trump Is 6’3” And 244 lbs, Why Does Media Keep Saying He Is Obese?

The BMI is meant to measure large populations, not individuals as it assumes a certain body composition. While that generally works itself out over the measured population, it doesn't account for individuals with higher than average muscle mass. At 5'10"/230, that chart shows me as obese, but I have a 34" waist.

I'm far more obese than he is. We weigh about the same but he has a few inches more than me. He'll be fine.

If a 6'3" 244 lbs dude named Donald Smith was admitted to any hospital in the country, all of them would code obesity as co-morbidity into his medical record as standard practice
LSU's roster lists linebacker Damone Clark as 6'3 245.

The media literally didn’t say one word about obesity being the biggest risk factor for Covid all
7 months of this out of political correctness but the second Trump gets it they scream about his weight.

LB Demario Davis is 6-2, 248 lbs.
He's obese?
He's obese?

He's technically obese at 30.5 bmi or so. Although 30 is cutoff.
Should he lose weight?
Yes.
But, he's not fat AF.

And Trump has an incredible energy level. He's the hardest working President of my lifetime by a large margin.
Lol, obviously.
But I'm not making a moral judgment about the man. I'm noting the fact that upon admission at the hospital they take your height and weight for one reason, to look it up on a chart that determines if you're obese for coding purposes which has medical and financial ramifications.

He's not fat. He's big boned.

Dude, he’s obese by any standard, and it’s not even close. America has gotten so fat you can’t tell anymore.
Agree; we probably need a new word for the scooter crowd at Walmart, because that's become "obese" to the average American. Trump isn't optimal but he clearly isn't that, so I get why people disagree with the term.

If Desmond Clark was admitted to any hospital in the country, they would code him as obese because using BMI, (which is imperfect) he meets the standard.

Why Does Media Keep Saying He Is Obese?

Obese is a medical term.
One that probably applies to Hillary, who also had health issues during the campaign. Did you EVER hear her weight mentioned, at all?
The question was "Why does the media keep saying he is obese", and we all know the answer.

You can literally see the fat dripping off his face
Posted on 10/3/20 at 7:38 pm to LuckyTiger
The media needs to call out the racist fat fricks that play college and pro football as well
And if being ‘obese’ means you’re going to die from Covid (I know it doesn’t necessarily) then most of the lsu football team should be dead
The BMI thing is crap - a few years ago my previous doctor sent me to a nutritionist bc I was over weight - so I went - the nutritionist walked in and asked why I was there - I told her - and she said, that’s ridiculous I’m fatter than you - so she wrote a nice little note to my doc and suggested I find a new one

I'm not sure she ever released a weight figure and given that chart is more generous to women, she's might be in the overweight range rather than obese. But without the numbers, you cannot know. With Trump we have the numbers that he released.

Well, it is pertinent given the disease he's battling since it's one of the most important complicating factors for the disease. Do you think if Biden got it, they'd ignore his age?

I'm 6'3" 220 and per the chart posted, I'm overweight. Obese, no.
