PRESIDENT TRUMP LAUNCHES “TRUMPIRA” — LOW-COST RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS WITH GOVERNMENT MATCHING!
President Trump just announced the new TrumpIRA program: - Starting next year, every American can go to TrumpIRA.gov and open a low-cost IRA account.
You'll get access to the same strong retirement plans federal employees enjoy through the Thrift Savings Plan. -
Low-income Americans will receive up to **$1,000 per year** in matching funds deposited directly into their accounts.
President Trump: “For millions of Americans who lack employer-sponsored plans, this will be really revolutionary because they'll be covered. Nobody thought that was possible!”
This is a massive win for working families — helping everyday Americans build real wealth and retirement security. America First means delivering for the people.

I don’t understand how Trump can do this without Congress.

Yeah, congress will figure out a way to steal it all....

Might be okay with it if it didn’t have the $1,000 match.
If Biden did this, the Republicans would call it socialism. Which it is.

He's making a bet that the economic momentum can outrun the interest payments if he goes all in.
Personally I think he's probably right, but we're doomed to never have a cohesive economic policy long enough to save us. The democrats will tank us no matter what if they ever come back to power. That's their job. It's how we got here. It's why we'll end.
Because we didn't take the threat seriously.

Just another way to inflate the DOW and claim a win.

Sure, but I can actually get behind this one. Giving poor people an incentive to save and an appropriate tax-advantaged plan for those savings is SO much more beneficial in the long run than ANY current social benefit program.

You all are showing how little you know your recent history.
The "Saver's Credit", a tax credit of up to $1000, was made into law during the Bush years. Low income Americans who save for retirement are eligible for a 50% refundable tax credit up to $1000 on money they contribute to a retirement plan.
Barack Obama tried to do the "MyRA", a streamlined way for people to save for retirement who had no other way. It withered and died and was eliminated quietly.
I seriously doubt many people actually do these plans.
They are an effort to get people to save for retirement.
None of this is new. The question is will anyone who is eligible take advantage of it?
Probably not.

My question is - is the Gov portion locked down where they can’t withdraw until a certain age? Otherwise low IQ peeps will just withdraw it every year.
Haven’t read up on rules yet.
