Sounds vague and idealistic.

“If you elect me as student body president, there are going to be candy machines in every classroom!”

That’ll close the gap between what we spend and what we take in

“Read my lips. No new taxes.”

I have no doubt Trump and Vance want this to happen, but let’s be real… Congress will frick it up or turn it into some really watered down version of it forcing Trump to have to cheerlead for it.

Correct, this is what pisses me off. Those of us that pay most of the taxes get fricked in any cuts.

I like it, but it's putting the cart before the horse.

We MUST address the insane deficit spending by Congress and doing this first would be to go backwards on that.

Tariffs bring in less than $100B per year (2025 is estimated to be the first year, at $160-ish billion, but it's very early in the year). When you get into the numbers, households making under $200k/year bring in around $1T in tax revenues (2023 & 2024 tax records).

Want to eliminate the income tax and cover that with tariffs? The first step is to cut the debt enough that annual interest is at least lower than what comes in via tariffs. That doesn't happen without cutting a frickton of spending first.

Notice how that tax-free cap keeps rising. It was $150k, now it's $200k.

That's not on accident.
