President Trump in an Oval Office interview with Hill.TV launched one of his most ferocious broadsides to date against Jeff Sessions, suggesting the attorney general was essentially AWOL and performing badly on a variety of issues.

“I don’t have an Attorney General. It’s very sad,” Trump told Hill.TV in an extensive and free-wheeling interview Tuesday from the Oval Office.

The president has long excoriated Sessions for his March2017 decision to recuse himself from the Russia collusion investigation. But on Tuesday he suggested he is frustrated by Sessions' performance on far more than that.

“I’m not happy at the border, I’m not happy with numerous things, not just this,” he said.

Trump suggested he had a personal blind spot when it came to nominating Sessions as the nation’s top law enforcement officer.

“I’m so sad over Jeff Sessions because he came to me. He was the first Senator that endorsed me. And he wanted to be Attorney General, and I didn’t see it,” he said.

“And then he went through the nominating process and he did very poorly. I mean, he was mixed up and confused, and people that worked with him for, you know, a long time in the Senate were not nice to him, but he was giving very confusing answers. Answers that should have been easily answered. And that was a rough time for him.”

Sessions is gone after the election right?

He needs to get rid of Sessions. Regardless of how you feel about how Sessions is doing, it is just ineffective to have a President and his Attorney General who don't see eye to eye.

Either that = or Sessions drops an H-bomb on the DEMOCRAT sedition and he and Trump have a beer laughing about the spoof they pulled off.

OR - Sessions resigns immediately

OR - Trump shuts his mouth about it. = shite or get off the pot mr pres.

Sessions should have been given 3 choices. (1) Resign, (2) Recuse and be immediately fired, or (3) Don't recuse, and instead do your damn job!

To this day I don't understand why Trump did not fire the guy on the spot.

This is either the biggest political sandbag in history, or Trump's critiques are true. If true, Sessions must go; and after the FISA declassification PROVES criminality on the part of Obama/DOJ/FBI/IC, if Sessions fails to act to clean it up...then He should/must be fired. Confirmation afterward, would be worse than Kav's.

It's Government dysfunction from here forward, with the Dems essentially nullifying any Trump progress, that requires Congressional approval. Sad but true; where it goes God only knows. Could get ugly.

Well, he really doesn’t have one. Sessions has been missing in action for two solid years. It seems that he didn’t just recuse himself from the Russia investigation but every other investigation as well. Sessions may think he’s being the above board, honorable man in his position, but he’s left his boss with no allies in the doj. He certainly can’t count the number 2 guy there, rosenstein as an ally, because that fricker launched a SC investigation before Trump had even organized the shite on his desk in the Oval Office. If Sessions being a part of the campaign was enough for a recusal, the guy who took part in signing FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign should certainly be recused as well.

One of the saddest things to me is a safe Senate seat was lost for nothing.

Good question. Sessions offered to resign, complete with a resignation letter. Trump wouldn't allow it. Mueller's "49 questions" for Trump includes this issue.
