meddle - to interfere in or busy oneself unduly with something that is not one's concern.

Christ. He just can't help himself. He's doing no favors for himself when it comes to the "weak on Russia narrative"

The fiasco yesterday and then his damage control consists of "I believe it was Russia. But it could be somebody else too."

This is a guy that's image is built around being tough, taking no shite and making it clear we won't be pushed around. But he won't publicly put the burden on Putin and Russia and tell them to knock it off.
