Trump holds a listening session on mass shootings with students, parents, and teachers

First 2 students were in building during shooting. Not nearly as polished as the Fantastic Four that CNN has been covering 24/7. The 2 students thanked President Trump for bringing these people together to listen to them and take their recommendations as he develops a plan to stop this from happening.
3rd student speaks out about having more drills so teachers and students are better prepared.
4th student thanks Trump for his leadership
Libs are going to be furious that there are level headed teens who were actually in the building when this shooting occurred.
5th student is a little emotional. Calls for change. People should feel safe. And his dad now speaking. Should not be able to buy a gun if not old enough to buy a drink.
6th student, from DC charter school speaking. Frustrated with violence in the community. Check bags at door at their school. Counseling for students. Preventative measures in place.
Where are they finding these people? Look nothing like the hysteria on twitter and CNN.
Next speaker, Parkland Mayor. Must come up with solutions. Two parents who lost kids asked her to make suggestions to Trump. One supports 2nd ammendment but does not believe "assault rifles" should be legal. FBI made mistakes, can't happen again. Red flag laws should be enacted, enforced. Other parent wants Trump to publicly acknowledge the role of guns.
Secret Service guy? (eta: father of girl killed in Parkland shooting) Says he isn't going to rest until it is fixed. Says there is security at the courts, the museums, the Dept of Education, etc. Not at schools. He is PISSED. Lost his daughter. Not about gun laws, about school safety. Let's fix the schools and you all can battle it out (gun debate) later.
Secret Service son 1 calls for solutions, conversation. Stop the censorship.
Secret Service son 2 (alpha chad, probably be banging Tiffany Trump by dinner time). Said they had a great conversation with Trump before meeting.
Emotional student who was in building, brother was floor above, friend was murdered. Brings out the ban gun nonsense, how many shootings in Australia nonsense.
Mother of 2 sons at Sandy Hook, one who survived, one who did not. This is not a difficult issue, the administration has the ability to put something in place to stop this. Mental health funding. Stop school violence Act. Prevention. How to identify people who are at risk of hurting themselves and others before they get their hands on a weapon. Very powerful stuff from her.
Father of son who survived Columbine, daughter killed in Columbine. Started program called Rachel's Challenge. Works with Chuck Norris' wife and Cal Ripken and his brother. Seen 7 school shooting prevented and average of 3 suicides prevented weekly because of his programs. We must create a culture of connectedness. Every school shooting is by someone who is not connected. Focus must not be on unity or diversity, focus on relatedness, then you can celebrate the diversity and see the unity take place.

Chick in the white has the right idea. No one silver bullet to fix this the approach will have to be multifaceted. One side cant act like this all happens in a vacuum.

Visiting the survivors and first responders, now this.
That way more than Barry did. And CNN runs with "Trump plays golf while victims are buried".
Unbelievable. As if any family would want a media circus at their kids funeral.

Good luck getting either side to see that.

Where can this be seen?
I'd love to see how the media spins it.

They must have screened these people - going as normal as I could expect.
The CNN/MSNBC stars are not present - and their propaganda is not forefront.
Much better than I thought it would be - expected some asshat to try to make a 'name' for itself.

I agree. Drinking age should be 18

While I believe drills are helpful, I don't believe that in the moment, one thinks "what did we do in the drill?". I stand firm by my demand that all schools are secured with members of the national guard who are heavily armed. We as a society must accept the fact that this is our new normal and regardless of the optics, we need to have heavily armed guards in our schools. STOP THE ATTACKS FROM PROGRESSING. Have 1 national guard member with an AR for every 5,000 sq ft. That member regularly patrols his/her area. If one is shot, then the others come rushing to fill in and neutralize the threat before it becomes a MASS shooting.

But I was told that Trump was off playing golf instead of attending funerals and addressing their concerns

Do charter schools really have a dog in this fight? Has any private school been shot up? Serious question.

He's done so indirectly.

I couldn't find any evidence of a parochial school mass shooting while going through databases the other day.

I think Trump wanted someone local. Also the charter student was black girl with braids. Give perspective of someone who lives in unsafe neighborhoods and their school has been addressing guns for years.

Emotional gun guy is back calling for ban on ARs.
He is an expert on the 2nd amendment.
Amazing hearing his inexperienced emotional thoughts compared to the woman next to him who lost a child at Sandy Hook.
It is interesting all of the experienced people are talking about preventative matters and mental health while the inexperienced people talk about banning ARs.
Great hearing all of the local black administrators talking about preventative measures they have implemented at their schools that have kept their students safe. Things like TSA-style screening.
