Trump form discloses debt payment to lawyer who paid Stormy.

What does this mean, and why do I feel like NBC's "smoking gun" means nothing?

Cohen paid Daniels in Oct2016. So in terms of what it means, it means Trump was/is telling the truth.

Based on campaign finance laws, the payment to Cohen could indicate re=payment of a loan. Loans made on behalf of a candidate are considered campaign contributions and must be reported. This wasn't reported as a campaign contribution.

Something like that.

Of course it had to be a retainer, because if it were a debt, it would have been reportable on last year's form.

Settlements are usually not part of retainer. Could a retainer be used for it? Absolutely. But generally law firms like to itemize settlements on their bill.

The thing is this wasn't that large of a payment, so maybe? And of course, Cohen was a small shop. Billing in legal is a BFD but since cohen had only a few clients, he probably kept it simple.

as to why this is news, it clears up whether trump paid him back and knew about it. Since we didn't have clarity on it, it appears that he was paid and trump knew about it.

Exactly what "it" are you referring to?

the $130k payment.

Its general practice in legal to put what funds are used for. In fact, they can actually get into trouble if they are too loose.

You can view Cohen's bill to AT&T online. I would imagine trump's bill was similar.

It still doesn't appear that we give a crap about it, though. So there's that.

Yeah. I don't really care that much either. at this point, we need a full disclosure of what occurred. But I am not going to be super upset if we don't get it.

I am far more interested in what transpired with Broidy. ATT and Novartis.

Can someone explain to me why Daniels is not being charged with taking 130K to not speak about something, then breaks that agreement, keeps the money and there are no repercussions?

*don't peddle the "Trump didn't sign it" crap. Upon acceptance of the cash the contract was established and binding.
