Why does a government service need a governing board? Who do they answer to?

And if the answer is no one, then its likely not constituional. And if they indeed answer to someone, then its just another layer of grift between the work being done and the eventual decision maker

This isn't an institution that barely lost money. It lost 6.5 billion in 2023 and 9.5 billion in 2024. I understand incompetency is all you know, but normal working people's anecdotal evidence and the USPS's financial disclosures of its' astronomical losses go hand in hand.

You libs just need to accept the fact that your party is dead, and your "institutions" are a complete failure and destined for the dust bin of history.

So i say again, LOSERS!

The USPS is NOT a government organization. It has some kind of quasi-connection to the government, but is not another gov't dept.

Our office didn’t get mail for almost two weeks, the postmaster (a barely literate idiot) said our driver had been out sick!

The post office makes me a libtard?

If you think the mail sucks now just wait for Larry's Letter Service and Pawn Shop in your neck of the woods.

I'm told that one of the reasons the USPS is perpetually in the red is because they fund their pension plan in advance, or some such nonsense.

Annual postage increases were not enough, so now they do it twice a year. Once again, bleed the taxpayers and customers!

Those financial numbers are fuggin awful.

I don’t even know how it’s possible to be that incompetent if you are honestly trying to run a department.

Intentionally destructive is a much more likely explanation.

Bad argument. We already know that alternative services are available, achievable and have done well.

It’s mandated by the Constitution and predates it, It’s always been run by the Fed Gov.

It’s insolvent, burdened with bloated pensions. If UPS, Fed Ex, or Amazon ran the way USPS did, there wouldn’t be UPS, FedEx, or Amazon.

This should have been done 20 years ago. Why are departments like this just allowed to function at massive deficits?

Alternative sources aka the contractors hired by the post office is 9 times out of 10 responsible for mail theft.

Nobody is stealing your check to risk their pension.

Hate to admit it but yeah. One of the biggest reasons the USPS loses money is from delivering to rural areas. That and massive amounts of management

1) LInk?
2) Why is USPS using contractors instead of doing it themselves?

Considering that every complaint filed against our mail lady results in nothing more than increasingly shitty service, i don't think they are too worried about losing their pension. At least, not until 2025.

In today’s age with email, text messages, etc. what actually needs to be sent paper via mail? and if so, why does it only need to cost $0.50 or whatever to do so?

if you truly need something, you pay for it to get mailed to you. otherwise, go digital

you would think the left worried about trees, cars, carbon footprint would love this initiative

If they privatize it get ready for even higher postage prices and package prices.
