Trump has more power to affect long term interest rates than Fed Chair Powell. If Trump were to make yuge cuts in federal spending then the bond market would respond with lower interest rates.

Low interest rates were just fine until Covid and then all our Reps sold us out and dumped trillions into economy. Those trillions are what fricked it up not the low interest rates. After the dumps it overheated economy and forced rates higher. It was all Fed induced. With Trump and DOGE, lots of fed costs will be cut via lots of feds unemployed. Trump is working on fixing the economy with private industry not fed induced money.

And was being more than countered by faster-growing deficit spending.

Is Powell left leaning? Likely. If Powell cuts interest rates artificially will inflation increase? Yes.

Unemployment and interest rates are low and we dont need a stimulus.

And we are sending labor back to Mexico. Cutting interest sounds like an unwise proposition right now.

The difference is, he doesn't need what that town's selling.

Trump’s lust for power is extreme, and power is what THAT town sells more than any other.

The reason Trump made so many bad appointments is because he didn’t know what he was doing, and the team he allied himself with, that did know, was not aligned with Trump. Trump’s inexperience, though harmful, was a requisite for the task of cleaning out the swamp. Anyone who had the experience was part of the problem.

If Powell really leaned left, he would lower rates to try to help poor people get money

Rates are lowered to stimulate growth. We already have massive service gaps still lingering from 2020.

All I see coming up is more inflation.

Well, you can do it, but the manufactured goods are going to be expensive.

Really, that is the whole idea of it. The gap between the rich and poor has become very large. Trump intends to close that gap by raising the salaries of the poor, rather than the Democrats long-time playbook of keeping the poor at a floor, through entitlement spending, and lowering the rich through taxation.

Trump and the Congress need to do their part and cut the spending. No more CR's, cut the spending and rates will go lower. Print money and spend like we have done, rates will have to go up.

THIS in spades! Want to fuel some big flips in Congress in 2 yrs, FK this up. People, more now than ever, vote with their wallets & personal financial situations. Shape the economy to drive rate drops.
