It's all just so embarrassing and tiresome. EVEN IF ENTIRELY TRUE it just means Trump is really careless, belligerent and stupid. How do people not get fed up making excuses for the dumbest own-goals and self-inflected wounds over and over and over.

Maybe if these docs were supposedly smoking gun evidence of election problems, etc, he might get to argue personal documents. But classified war plans? Come on already, I can't do this any more.

Outline and point to me where I can find the exact procedures Obama used to “declassify” all the presidential documents he wanted declassified? W? Clinton?

Exactly. At one point the argument was "there was a standing order that anything the trump took out of the Whitehouse so that he could read it at home or maralago was automatically declassified."

Which means there was a standing order to declassify the shite BEFORE HE EVEN READ THE DOCUMENT!!!

I mean... how insane do these excuses have to get?

He is literally on tape saying he didn't declassify a document that he had.

Every single document that was declassified during the Bush, Obama and trump presidency was done so through an executive order. Tru.p even issued an executive order to declassify other material shortly before leaving office but he didn't do so for the stuff he stole.

The outgoing President and his staff doesn’t sit indian style on the floor of the White House for a couple months and start a “personal” stack and a “official Presidential” stack and so on and so forth. That process begins in earnest after the President vacates the White House and is done at a mutually agreed upon site of proper security and whatnot. I was criticizing speaking outside of one’s realm of knowledge on these things, but I do recall that baseline information being readily accessible.

The mutually agreed upon site was obviously MAL, and from there, it’s my belief, that the Archives people started nitpicking Trump, looking for a fight. Like they’ve all seemed to do with Trump.

You realize that he is supposedly on tape waiving around a classified document that discusses war planning?

No matter how much you try you can't pretend this was all just a misunderstanding. He purposefully stole this stuff, lied about it, tried to hide it etc. He's a grown man. Quit making excuses.

Supposedly? If there’s one thing I know by now not to give a grain of credibility to regarding Trump it’s anything that follows “supposedly.” How anyone could give his pursuers the benefit of the doubt after all the nonsense we’ve seen in the past several years, their relentless unruly and ungoverned attempts to knock him off for good is beyond understanding.

So, I have not listened / read enough yet to know everything that is being said ... can he declassify 5 Eyes docs that are related to say nuking Russia, China or Iran and keep those in a non secure place after he leaves office, then lie (or ask his atty to lie) about having them, and suggest to his atty destroy some of them if they look like something he should not have kept?

There are direct quotes from the tape in the indictment. If they are making it up it would be a catastrophe. Face it. You just don't want it to be true, but you know good and well it is.

It's not a good look, as well as all the actions he took to move them around and hide them that they have dead-to-rights proof of. I hate it because it's obviously a partisan witch hunt, b

So you acknowledge trump is in deep shite, but it's a witch hunt? You realize Trump had over 1 full years worth of chances for this not to escilate? How is that a witch hunt? Or partisan?

No.

While the President has broad declassification power, there are things he needs Congressional authority or agreement to declassify, dealing almost exclusively with national defense matters.

And just to be clear, just like the President has broad declassification power, the rights of Congress on national defense matters is also in the constitution, Article 3, Section 8.

1. They’re persecuting me unfairly.
(raises millions of dollars.)
2. I declassified everything because I was president and there’s no rules to doing it whatsoever
(Case dismissed)
(Trump reelected)
(All democrats go to jail)

That’s how I’m hoping it goes.

I don’t know, dude. I had never really heard about anyone being worried about it one way or the other before. Had you?

I know something came up with Bill Clinton once, but I don’t recall anyone making too much of it.
