What do you think Troop NOLA is? Troop NOLA is 25 state troopers policing the French Quarter. And you’re claiming those 25 state troopers in the few blocks of the FQ are responsible for crime decreasing across the whole city? What are they doing do cause this decrease in crime in neighborhoods outside of the FQ?

Who would you say the "thugs" are in New Orleans? What do they look like? They're not white frat boys from Uptown. Reality is reality. I claimed the crime stats dropped. I agree crime stats were on a downward trend, but the classification of crimes changes constantly.

The real issue we should be discussing is the prosecution of criminals and keeping them incarcerated, so as to not reoffend.

Such hyperbole. You do realize NG guys have regular jobs? They will not be out there rounding up bozos. They'll be for show.

The crime #s started going down in 4 th quarter of 2023. NOPD caught a break on a big drug gang that was responsible for a lot of mayhem especially in the East and Upper 9. Then they changed staffing in the 4th district and shut down an apartment complex that was a hotbed of crime in Algiers . All that was prior to Troop Nola.

Troop Nola is basically for show as well with maybe 30 troopers in total they hang out mostly in the FQ and periodically they patrol I10 and the bridge. But the heavy lifting has been done by NOPD. 6-8 Troopers at any one time really isn't what is causing the reduction in murders and violent crime. Most of the LSP busts inside the city have been on traffic stops where they have gotten some guns and from what my NOPD guys tell me a minimal amount of drugs.

But if Landry wants to take credit, OK. An additional cop is an additional cop.

The NG presence can only help NOPD mitigate crime, further.

NG won't do shite. It's a photo ops pure and simple. NG are not going into the neighborhoods and making arrests and conducting investigations. At best they'll be plopped on some corners of the quarter like the LSP. They sure as hell won't be patrolling the Cut Off area of Algiers or the area off Chef Hwy in the East. They won't be needed all that much in Central City since it is fast becoming gentrified. You could put them in Lower 9 but they might outnumber the locals ( the population is maybe a 1/3 of pre Katrina) plus the yuppies are moving there. The old HC campus is becoming higher end condos / apartments.

New Orleans isn't anywhere near as dangerous as it was even 10 years ago and certainly not as dangerous as it was 30 years ago when Barthelemy all but ignored governing.
