So he is charged with "making false statements to FBI agents." You mean like if a government official had been discovered to be illegally storing official government emails on a personal server in her bathroom and was told to turn over all the emails to the FBI and after doing so thousands more were discovered? Since when has that ever been a crime?

I don't care that lakeboy is a liberal
I care that he wore a United States uniform and speaks so openly about suppressing the political rights of the Republican Party
It is disgusting for a veteran to do that

Gosh, so if I understand correctly, somebody related to Trump might have wanted to get some dirt on Hillary. Or get the emails she destroyed. This is approaching what the Clinton did with respect to Fusion GPS....except Trump didn't pay for the opposition research, and didn't end up actually meeting with any Russian officials or getting any such dirt. Oh, and Trump didn't use the dirt he didn't get to obtain a Fisa warrant to unmask U.S. citizens. But yeah....they got him now.

After learning Russia had thousands of Clinton emails, Trump advisor Papadopoulos pursued an "off the record" meeting with Putin's office
can someone explain to me where the crime or illegality of this is?
I have yet to see one person tell me why talking to Russians is a bad thing. Anyone wanna take a shot at it?

You are an embarrassment then
You're a soldier, dude. You are supposed to defend the constitution. You want to see the Republican Party taken down
Political freedom must not mean much to you

Going back to George Papadopolous....
This Papalopolous guy started with Ben Carson's campaign in Nov 15 to Jan 16, and then jumped to Trump's campaign in Mar 16. Then between March and Sept there are confirmations of him trying 6 times to set up a meeting between Trump and Putin. All unsuccessful. No meetings ever happened and no information was exchanged, according to the indictment.
How do you not get that if Putin is trying to get some low level adviser to put him and Trump together, that this CONFIRMS that Trump and Putin weren't in cahoots?
If you're already colluding and in bed together, you don't go around begging for meetings.

Russian hacking as early as April 2016.
Are you using “hacking” in a literal way or figuratively? It’s important to the discussion about criminality.
If Russia obtained deleted emails from Clinton’s secret server by hacking or breaking into her computer, that’s significantly different than simply knowing about emails that were obtained by others or given to them by others.
I’m still perplexed about how the narrative ever turned away from Clinton using a private server for government business, refusing to turn over emails about government business, lying about the content, deleting emails so that they could not be viewed for investigative purposes, sharing top secret info on non-secured systems, sharing top secret info with people who weren’t authorized, hiring a private company to review emails instead of giving them to the FBI for investigation, all while she was being given hundreds of millions of dollars by foreigners while acting as Secretary of State and as a presidential candidate. And especially now that an informant is prepared to testify and provide documentation and recordings of quid pro quo deals between Clinton and Russia.
So the ‘releasing’ of these emails which showed facts about the villainy of the DNC and the Clinton Campaign is worse than the villainy itself? How does that comport with historic use of confidential information by whistle blowers on the democratic side of the aisle like the Pentagon Papers, or Abu Graib?

ok well this is worse for Trump than Manafort, but still weak sauce

i think we can all agree that Russia/Putin had its tentacles all over EVERYTHING and EVERYONE in 2016
in a rational world, i think we'd all come to realize it wasn't partisan and was solely to create chaos in the US

It’s hilarious that a guy literally no one heard of before today could be the guy to collapse the whole administration.
Because hes admitted to lying??
They are done with his portion of the investigation
But heres your 'key' figure in bringing down Trump with this
quote:
"Mr. Manafort's swift action reflects the attitude of the campaign — any invitation by Russia, directly or indirectly, would be rejected outright," adding that Manafort directed that the response to the adviser come from "a low level staffer."
Nobody in the upper echelon of Trumps team EVER spoke to the guy

This seems to indicate that the Trump campaign would have had knowledge of Russian hacking as early as April 2016.
Russian knowledge, but not necessarily hacking. But, if you really want to go that route, then Comey's arse is in hot oil and will be Thanksgiving turkey, because he is on record as saying that he had no proof that this happened.
Anyway, this is a process crime more than anything else by Papadopoulous.
